Thanks for the input guys- The P/B blasting has started. My last install was on a 160k mile Heep Xj from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Rusty bugger!! I've learned my lesson about penetrating oil. Anyone recomend a location to buy Kroil? I always let my compressor fill fully before running any tools. I don't wanna be in that garage with it running. The oil-less guys are LOUD, so I will definately know if I'm running the...

I need the wiring diagram for the plug. I've already contacted the company an they want me send it in. I need it now, not in two weeks. I wrote down the color and numbers the first time I fixed it but lost it when I moved. Any help would be appreciated.

Never mind, they're already sold out. Oh well, I'll keep an eye out for a used unit.

I doubt you'll get more than 15 seconds on the impact before she fires up again, unfortunately. They're ok for an intermittent burst, but for good hard constant breaking loose, they use air quickly, and I don't think you'll have enough air in the tank to make it work too well. My buddy has a Snap On cordless impact, and it's better at busting free than my 10 gal compressor and air gun, it just runs too much to keep the...

I've used a 3/8 air ratchet successfully with a pancake compressor. It runs almost continuously if I'm doing several bolts in a row. I have serious doubts it could effectively drive a 1/2 inch, but have never tried. I would start spraying everything down now with PB Blaster, and do it several times before you try to break them loose.

I built a building with a gas generator and small compressor. The secret is the tank. I added an additional 6 gal tank to the one on the compressor. Modify your compressor tank so the extra tank ties in before the regulator for best results. After works just about as good. Remember that you aren't using the air tool all the time. Storage makes up for smaller supply rate of little compressor.

It will probably be ok for short, intermitent use. However, any heavy or continuous use will run the risk of runnning the compressor too much and overheating it. I would turn the compressor on, and let it fill the tank completely before doing anything. Then, keep an eye on the compressor throughout the project. If it seems to be runnning alot and/or getting hot, then stop for awhile and let it cool off. You might want to invest in a larger...

I think that i would enjoy fabricating some things for my truck including bumpers, Safari rack, rock sliders but also know that I jump into and out of hobbies all the time. What would be a economical way of getting into or testing the water without going out and getting a $2k MIG welder, tube bender and such? I was thinking of maybe buying a small cheap welder that might be sufficient to put tack welds on 3/16 sheet or something so that i...

What do you guys think of this welder? It's on sale at summit racing and seems like a good deal to me. I've never welded before but it's always been something that I've wanted to learn. Is this a good entry level welder? I know that like everything else you get what you pay for but I don't think that I would use a welder enough to justify spending $500+. It's nice that I'd be able to add ...

Keep in mind that there are many different horsepower ratings for these tools. The no name brand tools claim that they are rated at 20 amps. You will find out otherwise after you compare it to a name brand tool which is 10 amps, and is twice as powerful. I've tried two really cheap angle grinders, and burned them out immediately. I once burned out a Milwaukee, but it took many years, and it was ...

I will be installing a lift on my 110k mile explorer in 2 weeks. I'm figuring that an impact may expedite stubborn bolt removal. I purchased my bostitch 6 gal for woodworking and light construction. It supplys 2.7 cfm @ 90 psi. Most 1/2" impacts i've seen require 4 cfm @ 90 psi. I'm not looking for any level of hardcore use, but I'll pay $25 for a harbor freight impact if it'll save me time....

MY neighbor has about 6 - 8 of those 20Lb propane bottles the he says can't be refilled. Something about the government stepped and set some new standards concerning the valve at the top. Since they are screw in valves can't they be retro fitted? Then vac purged, ready to go?

So i have never welded or fabricated anything in my life but for some reason thing that i will enjoy / maybe be good at it. When i started talking to fabrication shops about Skid plates, bumpers and rails after doing the math in my head i decided that buying a welder and trying myself would be worth it even if it was a disaster and netted no usable work. Therefore i have started looking for ...
