Well did you have an ABS light on while it was happening? Apparently there has been a rash of bad sensors on new hubs. You can read about them on some other threads. Maybe bad from handling I don't know. You should try swapping your old ABS sensors onto the new hubs and give that a try.

the abs light is on r a reason. get the codes pulled to find out why its on. everytime you shut the truck off the system resets. if its on evrytime you key on then the truck is still seeing the problem. when abs light is on it disengages 4wd. it siunds like your having a problem with the 4wd module. do searches on here. someone ran a new ground from the tranfer case to the frame and fixed the problem your having. good luck

I have been tossing that idea around as well. I had my rear diff seal blow out on me at the beginning of the year. I was hauling a boat to Arkansas when it happened. I had read a post about front diff bearings going out. As hunting season is upon me that check will have to wait.

Posting here too for others to check on... I just got a re-call notice for my 04 for this part. (sensor on master cylinder) The letter said if I have replaced it already - I would get reimbursed . I replaced it last year for about $20

That's totally correct. With Remans they usually only fix what's broken. Always go new, unless you are about to sell.

the TSB that I read recently stated that this was caused by false 4wd engagement. the truck thinks the wheels are slipping, which they probably are while trying to park and thus the truck tries to engage 4wd before it realizes it shouldnt.

well i just removed my front drive shaft and vibration went away. so im thinking it was my transfer case. if you have limited slip rear diff than it could also be the clutch pak in the rear end. gives off symtoms as the transfer case. dont know though. if you have limited slip rear end did you use the ford friction modifyer additive? i think the automatic 4wd is almost the same as AWD. when it ...

What octane fuel are you running and do you have any mods done? Like advanced timing or anything along those lines? In my old Subaru WRX I had done some mods and if I didn't run 91 octane it would through a Check Engine due to mis fires in the cylinders. Would either have to de program until I refilled or put in a ton a octane boost. Maybe you’re running to low on your octane rating. Try 91...

No. His price is too high for an '02, and they seem to have an inordinate number of problems with the transmissions letting go. I would find a 2003 or newer, built after they worked out some bugs of the 2002/first year of redesign, and the transmissions are better... If you can find one, get a V8- the gas mileage is the same and they're a little more stout and reliable form the people I know ...

sounds like a lower intake coolant passage is leaking. its not easy or very hard its time consuming to get everything off, to get to the bolts to remove the the lower intake.
