By pressure wash I meant spray with hose, making sure all electrical was covered.. Guess I should have been more specific! Of course it was also hand cleaned with Greased Lightning. Looks much better now than when I picked her up. And I always make sure to use an air gun and clean each individual connector out prior to any vehicle start up, making sure the engine is pretty much dry.

^ I checked the Ford Technical Information System (TIS) CD, that Transit van transmission is referred as A4LD (not -e). It seems that Ford chose to use the old style version with diesels. That was upgraded with an electronic modulator, and the solenoids left out since there is no manifold vacuum in a conventional diesel engine. It looks like 4R44E is dubbed A4LDE in Europe.

There is the sohc v6 and the ohv. The ohv is tried and true. Great engine. The sohc has a good amount more torque and hp but they have some timing chain issues. They also usually get better milage then the ohv. I got the sohc now in my sport and its alot more peppy then my old 93 ex with the ohv. Dont let the timing chain issue scare you off. There are some guys pushing 200,000 miles with orignal...

Sup everyone, my name is Chris and I am 21 years old, actually my birthday was last week so I am new to the 21 years lol. I just got a 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition for a graduation present because I recently graduated college with a Bachelor's degree for Networking. At first I was skeptical of owning an American car because I was more of a Jap car fan, before this I owned a 93 ...

Chief Mac here!
Hello all Serious Explorations members! You have all provided support for maintaining mine and others Explorers, to that I say thank you! Of particular assistance is the information on the electronic range selector for the transfer case. I fixed my system and two other owners vehicles using the information I retrieved here - I donated my time to the other two owners, who...

Hi all,
I registered to this forum mainly because it seems to be the leading source of Ford automatic transmission information I have an old british car (Reliant Scimitar GTE '75) with the Ford C3 transmission and I'm looking to upgrade to the A4LD. As a matter of fact, I've already got two of the said boxes laying next to the car in my garage... Looking forward to share my project!

Hi guys, I'm new to the site and SUV's altogether. I have been pretty active in the fox chassis and car world for quite some time now. I recently got a 1999 Mercury Mountianeer Montarey 5.0, my initial plans are to modify the truck in a "Sport truck" manner meaning I would like it a little lower and a bit more peppy. I know the 5.0 has some good things going on in regards to the intake and heads ...
