Make sure all the vacuum hoses are connected from the manifold. The MAP sensor hose can cause problems too. Does it run good otherwise? Has the transmission been serviced? Sometimes a service will help, but it should be done peiodically to prevent problems from showing up. The light coming on indicates a problem somewhere. They usually can get closer to what problems are there and have them fixed. Engine running problems will affect the...

I'll check to make sure all the vacuum hoses are connected. Engine runs great, was told that motor was replaced with a rebuilt unit at 152,000, and when odometer randomly flashes on/off I can see it's stuck at 162,000 miles, so the motor seems to be okay. Don't know if the transmission has been serviced, previous owner didn't have much information about the service record, but she told me she didn't have any work done...

Thank you Bert! I was so sure this was all related to the recall. I took it to the dealer earlier today, and they told me these issues were not related to the recall part (meaning they weren't going to fix them). Unfortunately, they tried to rush me in and out as quickly as possible, and the person I was stuck speaking with had no idea what he was talking about. Because of that, I feel duped. Also unfortunately, it's Saturday, so I...

I live in Klamath Falls where it snows all too much. You? Thanks for the info I found it, it has a white colored handle on the dipstick and required a special funnel to fill without removing the air cleaner box thing but I got it! The older cars that had a starter solenoid only energized with cranking RTG, I completely misunderstood what you were saying here, but in retrospect I don't see how - as it seems very clear to me now. 94 Aerostar Stalling probelms
Published (2009-12-17 20:27:00)
I have a stalling problem. It stalls at any speed and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it stalls. It stalls at all speeds. The kicker here is that it is normally hard to start right after it stalls and usually I have to let it sit for a couple minutes before it will start again. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would go ahead and have the codes cleared. This will get the light to go off, but it will take several driving cycles before it will pass.

Vehicle in question is a `99 Windstar 3.8L Transmission developed a leak when my wife was using it to deliver newspapers. (Think "STOP-START-STOP-START" action around the various neighborhoods.) It would only leak BAD after it was good and heated up. (But if I left it cool down and added fluid, you could drive it back home 40+/- miles w/o another drop.)(And this van had been used ...

Being wordy is the best way to get the problem figured out. Better than having to ask for more information. Try to look at the starter and see if it has a solenoid on it. I'm almost positive you'll see one there. If you can see the part of the wiring diagram that runs the starter circuit, maybe we can see how they wired it. As far as the solenoid, see if it clicks with just turning the key on ...

Hi Everyone, My Wife's 98 Windstar developed a problem over night where the brakes are very soft. This kind of happened suddenly. Basically you can stop, but you have to push the pedal all the way to the floor and pray you don't need to stop quickly. So far we checked the brakes themselves, pads are less than 6 months old and she hardly drives anywhere. Rotors and cylinders are ...
