Those gaskets are supposed to be able to be reused to a certain extent. When they get to those showing, it better be replaced. Thanks for the update.

Brake Light????
Published (2009-12-27 01:08:00)
My 2002 Explorer 4.0 has a brake warning message on the dash that only goes on when I press the gas after coming to a complete stop. And I have to be hitting the gas a little hard. Any Suggestions?

I found out the metal was from the auto trans gasket!!! So be carful if you reuse the gasket although that is not recommended.

I did a trasmmission fluild and filter change. On my 1999 X, It went well but in the fluild were small metal bearing like pieces. Size about 3 mm diameter and 2,5 mm height. (Like tiny size pills, 8 in total) The transmmssion is fine but just thought to change the fluild!! Yayks What I don't know - now I know! Also the handbook says almost 10 liters capacity of ATF, but when I dropped the ...

It's probably low on brake fluid. They have a sensitive switch. Check the master cylinder level.

Jf the light is on, you should be able to get a code. You can turn it off by disconnecting the battery for 5 min or so. Take it to Autozone to make sure about the codes. It makes repairing a lot easier if there were several and after clearing there's only one. Make a noye of what they were.

Usually the fuel pressure regulator makes them run rich. Have someone turn the key to ignition while you hold the shrader valve in to see if you get pressure at that time. Where did you get the pump? We got one from Autozone that wouldn't pump. That can happen from any place. Recheck the lines to make sure you didn't pinch one. Been there, done that.

Most of the drain plugs are 13mm. The oil filter is removed as most other cars. Welcome to the forums.

I get an average of 17; that's fill up, drive all over, fill up, do the math. On highway only, the best I've gotten is 22 on a long run at about 60 mph. That's on gas, too, not E85. E85 gets me about 14 on the highway.
