LAX vs SFO on the way to SYD
Published (2009-12-05 13:25:00)
Bill I always appreciate your advice. I'm afraid I can't easily call UA right now as I'm in southern Switzerland! Wish I could call them and plead my case... haha I will be getting home on Wednesday... probably too late? Maybe I can get in contact with 1K by email? Thanks so much. Carol

Not for domestic flights. You'd get plenty of questions about the baby if you were flying internationally.

I called UA to see if it was possible to ug you on ORD-NRT and the supervisor said they couldn't do it. You should call, though, because you might get a different answer.

" your purposes seem to be getting something printed out for you when you're short of time and away from printers. " Nothing at all to do w/ printers. Has everything to do w/ not having on-line access to check in Early Bird update: For my Dec 1 flight down to LAX, checked in on line @ 23:59 and pulled #A 34. For my Dec 3 return flight, I paid $10 to Early Bird since I wouldn't have any chance to check-in on line. When I...

Not just babies...any kids. My 16-year-old doesn't have a drivers license yet and still goes through security from time to time without showing ID (although lately I usually have her passport along). The TSA ID checker usually will look at her boarding pass and ask her what her name is, and that's it.

My young adult non-diabetic son loves diabetic socks. They are usually without seams, very soft and non-binding - the most comfortable socks around.

Connection times & weather

Sure, the weather can be questionable in ORD or EWR in mid-March. However, I would not (personally) avoid ORD at that time (I try to avoid both ATL and EWR out of principal, regardless of weather .) O'Hare is very well equipped to handle all but the most horrific weather conditions, and I wouldn't expect things in March to be all that awful.

I always book my own and once the charge shows up on our statment, redeem the points right then and there. It is easy to follow the instructions and do it right then and there. Everything is spelled out clearly on their website for redeeming travel points. I've never had to speak to anyone. Basically, any air ticket $350 or less, "costs" 35,000 points (that means 35,000 points from $0 to $350 ...

Excellent idea! I used them on our last trip to Australia and will use them again on our trip to New Zealand in April. Wal-Mart has them online at a decent price: http://tinyurl.com/yf93max

I haven't used it yet. Never any need. But I do have a flight in early Dec where it simply won't be convenient to check in ahead of time so I did opt for the Early Bird.
We'll see how it works.

I can't tell you the exact dimensions, but it's not much. My hard-sided "legal/accounting" briefcase, which is about 9" X 15" won't fit and always has had to be gate checked - which I don't really mind since it's waiting at the gate when I get off.

Madrid is cheap too. You have to pay a couple Euros supplement to a standard metro fare, but it's still not very much. I think you can get 10 metro tickets for less than €6. So you could do the trip for about €2,60.
But I recommend taking the metro to Nuevos Ministerios, plus the Cercanias train to Sol or Atocha and the cost of that train is about €1,20. I suppose this might all add up to $5...

If I remember correctly, there is at least on of them in the pre-security departure area. So when you arrive, you can take the escalator up to the departure area and it should be right there.

Hope the airport & flight go off better! Thanks for all the advice. Also booked the check-in luggage & an upgraded seat.
