I wouldnt power sand them, I know you want to but its not a good idea. What can happer with a drum is you'll sand heavier in a spot and end up with a wave in the metal. Sanding by hand isnt bad if you use the right sand paper. Start with 180, then 320, 600 for the final. Then use filler primer. Its heavier body to help fill scratches and level out the surface. Ive used it on my door handles when I painted them to get rid of the texture....

There not good. Yes there cheap and easy to install, but your spring rates will change because of them.

Rubbing issue

With a 165K I can pretty much assure you there are worn suspension components here and there. Start with a full set of bushings then consider, ball joints, tie rod ends and maybe even wheel bearings. You didn't say how many miles were on the shocks but if its over 50 to 60K miles they should be replaced as well. Also get a good alignment. If you simply tried to adjust camber by ...

I got some Perrili P5's and I love them. I'd do some looking at a couple stores online. They have reviews, prices, and all that. Yokahama makes some good performance/all season tires that I heard are pretty good. but they are pricey.

I'm running Hankook iPikes, have had them for three winters now and I couldn't be happier. We get a lot of snow around here and these hold all four corners solidly on the road through whether it be tight corners to long winding turns. I only use them for the winter and so far it looks like I can get at least three more winters ...

Not sure about the bar.
On the springs, I would not use the SVT dampners with them. Spend the money and get a good set of Dampners to match the spring rates of the H&R's.

Yeah they do make the engine bay look a lil more sportier that's for sure!
nah you'll be fine without an alignment.

Sweet dude! I can't wait to see what it looks like. I personally like the stretched look and thought about doing that at some point.

No rubbing at all.
Though, the Koni sport springs I'm on are not much of a drop.
(Little over 1/2" in the back, and barely 3/8" up front)
I'm also running 2° negative camber up front.
Was thinking of changing to 225/50/16 for next season's set, but I might rethink that if you had rubbing issues.

wanting to go wide on 15's
I am wanting to go with a set of rims that will poke out from under my fenders.I am not wanting to run spacers but a high offset 15" rim.I was wondering what type of offset I should be looking for to get them out there on a stock suspension. Would I be running into any Rubbing issues?...

Yes it did.
I got different wheels and I bought a used set off ebay and had those put into the wheels and then had a tech at Ford program the PCM to recognize the different set of sensors.
But now I'm wondering if the computer remembers the original set too. Or does it only have memory of 4 (or 5 if spare has one)

might want to take a look at the cv boot, as You may have busted it. It's not easy to do, but that lil bugger did possibly turn a rock into dust, and that could certainly help. If so, the axle will need to be replaced. Easy enough with the right tools.
Of course, I could be waaaay off.
As I haven't hit the dirt in a Focus, I couldn't tell You what to do for skid plates specifically, but I ...

Help getting started
I have come into a 03 SE with a SPI and an automatic. Not the best platform to start, but it is what I have. Hoping to upgrade the tires, wheels and suspension to start and go from there. Where should I start here? Get bigger tires or improve the suspension? What parts are best? Just need a starting point....
