It looks like you might need a retaining clip. Is there a ridge on the bottom side of that stud? If anyone else wants to chime in, click on the little pic, then it takes you to another site- slightly larger, then you can click it one more time to enlarge it again.

For trouble shooting to check that any exposed wires are the cause of the shorts/problems, electrical tape should do. To prevent the problem from reoccuring if you find more than a couple of wires in bad shape, you might want to splice and solder up the wires and use some heat shrink tubing.

Was the belt tensioner pully locked up or the tensioner actually weak or broken?. If the belt is loose, then yes that could cause the p/s pully to slip , making it feel like there is no assist. put on a new belt with the tensioner. Whoops I dont know how that happened...

Clock spring question
Published (2009-12-31 20:13:00)
clockspring is dealer, but not real expensive. you will need to pull the airbag and steering wheel to get to it. it mounts on the end of the column. you'll see two small plugs (cc,horn) that will need to be unplugged before removing the wheel.

After doing some reading, I figured the first thing to try was to clean the throttle body. I stopped by the parts store on the way to her work and picked up a can of CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. When I arrived at her work, I tried to start the car and it started and idled fine for me. I left her the Explorer and brought the Focus back home. When I got here, I started removing the necessary bolts to...

Welcome aboard!
I'll let someone with better experience address the valve seat issue... but as far as the timing belt goes, you're due!
Yes, it's a non-interference engine, but unless you do strictly local driving AND have access to some kind of a free tow I can't see pushing the belt until it breaks.

my clutch in my 2008 se sedan also bahaves in that same fashion. i rev the car up to about 1500rpm and as i slowly let out on the clutch ill feel exactly what youve described. it only does it in certain situations tho, usually after using the clutch a bit so in extended stop and go city driving. ive never really worried about it because the clutch seems to be holding up just fine otherwise. i ...

A broken stud or two. This could happen from being over tightened or not tightened enough. The lugs could have loosened as well. Make sure the wheel is not loose on the hub. Another possibility, if the tires/wheels were rotated and the tires are directional and moved to the opposite side of the car instead of front to back, the belts could be separating. In common practice, I never rotate radial ...

Well Christopher unless we could somehow get a hologram of the problem vehicle over the Internet, that's fully functional, we'll have to resort to educated guesses.
Ok so I have another question then... How does the fuel pump sound when you put the key to the on position? Loud or normal?
Edit: another question. So if you were to try and start it 3 times a row in the morning,...

Oh, and yes it's right to the line on oil. I park on a flat space.

Harbor Freight is a good place to find tools to work on your AC system......these may not be the highest quality tools around, but for occasional use on your own or friend's cars, they'll work as well as SnapOn (the expensive stuff).
Take a look at these tools . Considering an hour's labor at the dealer can be $100, buying tools like this could save a bunch of money.......
And here's an ...

My friend QuikSilvr had that same exact problem with his SVT. We tried replacing the coil with one that I had laying around and we had checked the spark plugs as well to make sure they weren't to bad off. Everything seemed to be working fine until a couple days later it was doing it to him again. Except this time it was just idling roughly and having the misfire in #3. If I remember I will call ...

Is the noise worse when turning?
^^^Or, it doesn't matter whether you're turning or not?
If you've got "click click click" when turning slowly, but not going straight, I'd suspect the CV joint.

How many mounts does the Focus have? Three? If I feel a cluck during a shift, is it likely a trans mount instead of one of the engine mounts?

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. Something electrical. I brought mine in to the dealership under warranty and it was a short. So you really dont have to worry about it.

Are you geeting an electrical signal to the coil pack?

^^ huh? All cars technically have a build number. On Fords it is the 12th through 17th digits of the VIN.
