Yeah, it's another Focus. I'm just wondering if there's enough of a difference between a Focus Zetec and an Escort Zetec to make a difference, not to mention getting into the whole transmission, cv-shaft, motor mount thing. But say I had a whole Escort donor car, transmissions were interchangeable (auto to auto), etc... Motor mounts would still have to be figured out, amidst other things. It's just an idea, I just...

I'd investigate online to see what the part numbers were for the motor mounts for both engines. It might be that it uses the same mount, if it looks the same, fits in the same spot- you should be able to make it work since you have the other side of the mount on each version of the engine.

I have a a cougar with the VCT zetec....same as the ZX2. Want my opinion? Don't bother wasting the time & money on it. Its the same motor just adds VCT to the exhaust cam & gives you a more stable powerband compared to the Focus one. I think most every one I saw on a dyno in stock form hit the same power numbers, compared to the focus which goes from 100-115. The VCT is there mainly for emissions, it did give a little...

2001 focus zts auto-shifting...
Published (2009-11-26 20:49:00)
Hi I'm new to this site and seeking some info. I had a 2002 focus SE with 254,000 km on it when the motor passed away. We liked the focus so now we have purchased a 2001 focus zts. When we test drove it, it ran beautifully and shifted great. After buying it 15 minutes later the trans(auto) started to shift up and down violently. So bad so that it stalled the engine out several times. Eventually I was stuck on the road trying to get home...

wow, i got like 10pages(40post/page) through this and just skipped to the end... just too much BS and zero info. what are the problems you are having with your swap. please be as specific as possible and i will do my best to sort them out for you. i noticed a few big mistakes right away though... you need to find out what year the engine, trans, ECU and wiring harness all came from. there are return and returnless Contours AND SVT-C's so...

A: What's the body again? Another Focus? B: ZX2's might have different fuel injection systems (not sure) but if so, simply swapping parts from your intake should allow it to work. There might be other differences but as long as you have a Focus Zetec engine on hand to pull parts from you should be ok. If you don't, forget other vehicle's engines if your body is a Focus. C: If this is some ...

No one has an '08 specific info for me? I know the engine/drivetrain configuration has remained the same, I am just a little wary on the electronic side of it. I plan to start this immediately after Christmas, so anything before then would be helpful.....or during actually.

the pump is different. i don't care what anyone says. i've used both a zetec and an svt pump and the svt flows quite a bit more. glad you got your car running. i've done a complete SVT swap, if you have anymore questions hit me up with a PM and i'll be glad to answer them.

^^ You want a rear ended vehicle. Any frontal impact that totals a car can potentially damage the transmission. You're right to try to find a complete vehicle. You'll need to pull the carpet/seats, and replace all the modules in the car so that those will jive with the new computer. Your biggest problem might be ABS or SRS if your vehicle doesn't have the extra options that the donor vehicle has....

ZF transaxles are what are used in GT40's and Pantera's as well. That's an expensive option there. I should've known that, it just slipped my mind, or as a friend says "I lost those brain cells at Woodstock." LOL

what is the chance that I can leave the car FWD??? Chance? Ever hear how much of a chance a snowball has in h e double l? You'd have to mount the V8 in a transverse orientation, and somehow find a V8 transaxle. Then, widen the car by about a foot at least so it would all fit.
