Undid Mods, Can't Keep Running

You're gonna need a helper for this one. Use the DVOM and check the battery voltage with the car running as close to a stable idle as you can get. Should see about 14 - 14.6 volts. One guy earlier in the month had mentioned switching to AC on the DVOM and measuring that way. If you get any reading the alternator is bad. I checked mine this way and I get voltage, the battery/alternator tester at the parts store also says I have a bad...

I am pretty sure you will still have to reprogram the keys as the immobilizer is built into the computer, and wont allow the car to start if the keys aren't programed into it.

I'll see what can be worked out. I am moving away tonight, so these things won't be able to be worked on by me for a while. I may end up and just have to have it towed to a shop. My wife can do some of the work, but I don't want this to become her burden. As for the "flapper thing" in the intake, I presume you mean the intake manifold runners. There are two ports in the secondary manifold, one open always and...

I did take the fob about 100 yards from the car and it would act like it did when the battery was dead in it. After I got back to the car it started every time.

Did the mileage start to stink all of a sudden, or did it gradually get worse with time? Anything happen to correlate with the mileage getting bad? Given a lack of other symptoms, I'd wonder if you got a puncture in your fuel tank or somewhere along the fuel lines.

....? What exactly are you asking? Are you asking about a "tune up", or a "tune"? Because "tune up" generally refers to lubricants, brake fluid, wipers, stuff like that, while a tune refers to paying Randy or Tom a few C's to reprogram your PCM.

Hitting the windshield alone won't cause the air bag to go off. The only way the air bags will deploy is if a sensor triggered them to ignite. That all being said, there may not be any visible body damage, but it'd be worthwhile having a professional look at the body to see if everything else is okay. I don't think you'd have a problem swapping air bags between cars of the same year but ...

Did this happen to the same car? Did they sell you the newer cylinder, the face plate looks like an 05 or newer, to replace the old one? No PATS will not effect the key being inserted or turned.

Sounds to me like it could be related to the PCV not being hooked up. Just wondering if you rev the engine, does it still die? Do you have any reason to believe the injectors could be problematic? Since you dont have the cat hooked up, i assume you do not have the rear O2 sensor connected. However, I dont see a reason why it wouldnt idle properly without the cat or rear O2 sensor installed.

If I recall, the passive restraint (air bag) system changed in 2002 to accomodate the Personal Safety System. In a nutshell, the airbags can go off at two different strengths, depending on the severity of the crash. I can only assume that's part of the reason why you're seeing two sets of connectors and wires. The easiest fix would be to just track down parts for a 2001 Focus and go from ...

try replacing the fuel filter if you havent done this they start to get clogged and how dirty is your air filter? Other things to check are tire pressure and you alignment. It could be s combination of things hurting your mileage to make it that low. merry Christmas to you as well!

Personally I think you're being overly presumptuous. I don't think I've ever heard of a wiper spring going bad and I know I've never heard of someone upping the pressure, not to say it can't be done. Trying to replace the spring I'm afraid you'll lose an eye and I'd rather not hear about that. Have to ask if you normally replace the wiper or just the blade? Could be the wiper frame is bent or...

You need to be more specific. Do you want a DIY repair manual (like a Chilton's or Haynes), or do you want a Ford-based manual that has wiring schematics and full procedures? Computers can range in price. It depends on new or used, and you need to double check which computer you have on there.

Out of curiosity, do you have any modifications or accessories added to your wagon (things like aftermarket security system or even a remote starter)? Does your car have traction control? I'm wondering if it's the ABS/Traction Control, and/or you have an issue with the charging system or module(s) controlling it.

The thermostat usually is a common source of a car not being able to heat up inside. That, or a blockage in the heater core or lines to the heater core. In around 2003, Ford specified that yellow, long-life coolant. Some have said as long as you totally flush out your system, you should be fine in switching back and forth. I personally disagree with that, and I'd go with what's called for in ...

Sand them. Real easy and works every time. Finish with a 2,000 grit wet/dry and clear them. You'll have a brighter light that won't be affected by dulling if you try and wax them by clearing them.
