At least it happened before the flight across the Atlantic Ocean, or she may have been in for a considerably worse experience if she would have had the immigration clearance attempt taking place in the US....

They can spot out liquids in a heart beat but I'm not sure about a gun or explosives as told about in reports.

sounds like a good idea (and personally, i think more pax should test the "ice nonsense") but i think frozen shampoo might be a bad choice as it is technically a gel and not a liquid and imho, that one would lose. i'd actually want to see "the test" done exactly the same way with a cup of ice and see what happens as if denied, then you...

I believe this is a TSA ploy to stop people from using their rights.
I have had similar issues with liquid medicines and TSA and I firmly believe they do it so others do not try to do what you do. If TSA can yell it will cow others into the behavior pattern that the TSA wants!

If traveling domestically, it doesn't have to be declared. There's a court case pending now challenging TSA's "authority" to count money and attempt to enforce customs law.
Now if you have a big wad of bills bulging in your pockets, it may get you patdown. It'd be an alarm that'd have to be resolved. That said, they should leave...
