This is a major problem. It is your room and you should control who gets access, not the front desk. I had the opposite experience in a hotel in Maputo. I had returned to my room during the day and found the door open and a member of housekeeping staff in the room. As I walked in, she stopped me and asked me to use my keycard to show that it really was my room. This was good thinking and, given the criticism African housekeeping staff get on...

I hate to start a new thread after starting 3 threads in two days on roughly the same topic. But I'd like to thank everyone for the info. I went into the passport agency this morning and was out the office well before my actually scheduled appointment time. They told me to come back at 11:30 to pick up my passport. Who would've ever though bureaucracy could be efficient?

SIgnage should be large and easy-to-read - this is especially important when rushing to make a connecting flight. Moving sidewalks in airports where the gates are far apart.

Good, clear signs showing gate numbers and also how to get to tthe transfer area. Staff available (and knowledgeable) to answer passengers' questions. Security clearance well anought staffed that the wait isn't too long. Reasonably comfortable/quiet places to sit, and shops that sell the sorts of things that airline passengers want newspapers, books, drinkable tea, drinkable coffee; a chemist shop is always a good idea too. On overseas flights, I see it all the time. Overseas trips for leisure are typically for extended periods of time, so lots of luggage, and often with gifts to boot.

I don't know about timescales, but SA recently dispensed with F when they stopped flying 747s.

I would not put any clothes on any bed in a hotel. My wife and I just spent 3 weeks traveling through Germany and Italy - all the places we stayed were very nice hotels, and B&B's, all of then looked "spotless". One night my wife was bitten by bed bugs, strangely enough I did not recieve any, or at least did not have a reaction to any...

Don't make me have to go land-side and then through security a second time in another terminal for a connecting flight.
(CO was really irritating about this for passengers from ATL/DFW/CHI connecting in the EWR hub, all so that it could squat on gates in terminal A and keep them out of the hands of other airlines.)

What are some of your interests? Then pick a location that relates to that interest, i.e.:
Olympic hosts
WWII battlefields
Michelin starred restaurants (might limit you in geography to bigger cities)
UNESCO World Heritage sites

What's the problem? Tell your client you're familiar with MEL, know a great hotel in a good location that costs just a dollar a night more, and suggest you both stay there. If he's OK with it, then he gets a nicer place to stay and you get all your benefits and points... and if he's not OK, then you've got yourself one seriously ...

Most of my travel is for work, so I have very little choice about who I fly. Whoever has the cheapest flight that gets me to the client site on time and back home after a certain time is who I fly. Because I live near PHL, this is almost always US Air.
I have flown other airlines for vacations, but I typically stay with Star ...

Strange timing--I had basically this exact conversation with a friend of mine the other day. This summer I attended a wedding in Charlotte, which marked my first visit to the city itself after making dozens of connections in CLT over the years. That leaves only CVG and ATL as places where I've connected but not yet "officially" ...

One reason to always keep a photocopy
That said, did you provide the # to the airline when you booked? When you checked in for a previous flight? Saved it to your travel profile with an airline, travel agent or hotel? Corporate TA? Entered it onto various other forms? Credit card receipt from when it was issued?

Germany is perhaps the classic one. Others in Europe are Finland in English (with similar names in other western European languages) but Suomi in Finnish, and Greece in English (again, with similar names in western Europe) but Ελλάδα (Ellada) in Greek. The Mediterranean Sea is Akdeniz in Turkish, and I guess that lots of local ...

The Italians are afraid you're going to seek work in Italy and not return to the US, so get a signed letter from your new employer confirming that you have a job and income here, and that you are expected back at work in LA on such and such a date. That should calm the Italians down.

When I try to log onto this site it tells me the security certificate is not valid and that it might be a site pretending to be surveymonkey which could put my confidential information at risk.
Anyone else get this?
