i am a firm believer in the fact that if you want a suite then you should book it....however, having said that, if spg had a system like 4 suite upgrade certificates per year to start off a plat & then 1 certificate after every 2 stays, that could take care of the whole guessing game.... but once again, if you want a suite then just book it....

Noooo! One of the best leisure SPG properties out there. Great upgrades, nice decor and the fountain view rooms can't be beat. Would be a HUGE loss for SPG.

Hotel is beautiful, and rooms are great. The restaurant is fantastic for lunch and dinner (mediocre at breakfast).
Their big problem continues to be service. NOT Westin calibre -- a bunch of amateurs running around without a clue about 4 star service or what the ...

I've definitely seen hotels require the New Year's Eve dinner, but $317 in Thailand is absolutely ridiculous.
The rooms aren't even that much per night. They start at 9800 baht/night. Absurd.

Been a Plat for many years, only a handful of suite upgrades this year and I have stayed over 27 nights so far.....rather disappointing but it seems to go by properties, some are better than others. Forget NYC Sheraton or Sheraton Manhattan.
One strategy is to phone the property the morning of your check in to request, but this is no longer a guarantee as I found out in NYC last week.
