EY or QR or EK to Cape Town in Y?
Published (2009-11-26 08:28:00)
Reading mixed reviews about Etihad, Qatar and Emirates I still want to ask some advice for my trip to Cape Town next year. From FRA/ MUC or ARN. Skytrax gives almost same star ratings for both EY and QR in economy. As for EK, I don´t like their B777-300ER version in Y: 3+4+3. Feels cramped. I´ve previously flown long trips with SQ´s B777-300ER in Y and after 9 hours when breakfast started I got a claustrophobic feeling sitting in window...

Here's a handy hint we learnt last weekend. Go to the first class lounge, and ask to use the showers. They won't allow you in the showers, but will allow you in the toilets. You'll be given complimentary access to the non-aligned 'premer lounge' next door and can use their lounge and showers instead of the pathetic effort that is the SAA business lounge. On Sunday morning they had no facility for making tea or...

I was dissapointed when I flew with them and avoid that airline now. Old, worn out airplane... you'd think with all their oil money they could have a decent airline ala Emirates.

If I were you I would take the SA non-stop flight ex LHR. BTW: the 55 minutes transfer time in DOH is perfectly doable.

It wouldn't just be SAA though - I could see BA/LH/LX/VS all adding extra flights to their successful routes.

I was thinking the very same thing; I'm planning a trip for my father to the Frankfurt motor show this year, and after looking up the prices and reviews of the current cradle seating I decided it may not of value. It's a shame really that for 1300USD a head you get what is considered premium economy at best. LH flies with an all ...

I can't really help in regards to the Etihad call center, but are you calling Germany on your mobile without an international calling plan? 25 cents a minute is a huge ripoff! Signing up for any international calling plan on your landline/mobile can bring the cost down to a few cents a minute. If you don't want to do that, buy a ...

ACSA fired the previous baggage handlers from a few years back and have had a new company for the past 2 years (about that) I have flown in and out of there 8 times in the past 3 years and have had nothing stolen, so i think that you should be fine. I did ASW-ABS-ASW about 18 months ago. I didn't go into Luxor airport but I'd imagine it's not far different to ASW. That means no significant benefit from status, nowhere entertaining to wait either side of check in, and the biggest hassle will be getting into the airport itself. Please, make sure you're not being farmed out onto ...
