As much as I strive to be politicly incorrect, I can no longer pursue this topic. Good luck to Mr Fearnly and other wheelchair bound travelers.

Unfortunately it is possible and in many cases likely that a person forced to use a generic wheelchair may suffer injuries that may take a very long time to heal. Pressure sores can develop very easily not to mention strains from sitting incorrectly. It can be more than just pride that suffers from this sort of stupidity.

My BS meter/Spidey sense is tingling. There are two open seats just behind this giant - if it was an FA that actually took the pic, why not get him moved to the two open seats behind? (Assuming the boarding door has closed, of course.)

I hae no idea why he wasn't allowed to have his wheelchair, crazy.

That's pretty ridiculous. EK should be able to compete in Germany just like any other airline. If they offer biz fares at a lower price... so be it. Good for them. Good for the customers.

This seems to be about another "fee" altogether. The airlines make their campaign contributions, or the show trials begin. Protection, pure and simple.

Price of the flight: 99,- return.
Price of the excess baggage: 10/KG (only one bag allowed).
Surely not as extreme as the posted example, but if a 15KG bag one-way costs 1.5 times the amount of a return...
