Thanks - found a decent enough price flying American (i'm oneworld emerald) so will do that. Interestingly cheaper to fly DCA - Orlando via MIA than it was to fly only DCA - MIA (on the same flight). Weird........

I'll take the earlier Tri Rail and not cut it so close....

Thanks for the information. We are not in a hurry, I just want to be ready if I see any cheap fares.

Fort Lauderdale Airport parking?!
Published (2009-11-09 17:50:00)
Welcome to FlyerTalk, zmeflyby ! Yes, both the garage and the long-term lots are often full over major holiday weekends (in the past, they have added overflow lots, but these are often on dirt fields, not so good if it rains). My parking facility of choice is Park-n-Fly, which is just on the other side of U.S. 1 from the airport entrance. PNF has 24-hour shuttle service (you are picked up at your car within 3 to 5 minutes (usually shorter),...

Definitely fly. The drive or train will take up most of your available time. Rent a car once in Orlando. Just be aware that many of the shuttle launches never go on time. So don't have your heart set on it happening as a certainty. You don't say if you want any of the theme parks. If so, the on-site hotels are not the cheapest but give a good experience for such a short time frame. For only a couple of days I like Universal Studios...

Wirelessly posted (goingaway's phone: BlackBerry8900/4.6.1.231 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100) it is usually a cheaper ticket if you want to fly - southwest covers the route as an LCC, as well as other mainline (and LCC) carriers. The drive is 18-20 hrs and all boring highway. There is plenty to do around DC and Orlando to cover your three days, so perhaps the two general vicinities would be enough for the trip

You'll have lots more options flying into MCO, plus the drive is a little shorter - and the drive from RSW is rather boring going along Alligator Alley (I-75). Sometimes you can get decent fares into FLL if you aren't in a hurry to book right now.

I am in and out of MCO at least 2-3 times a month. I have gotten very tired of the "traffic cops" in blue after you pass the TSA agent that checks your ID and boarding pass. The "traffic cops" are directing everyone without kids to the 2-3 lines to the left and sending the people with kids to the 2-3 lines to the right up against the glass. The problem is that the "kids" line only has a...

You need to purchase tri-rail ticket before boarding into the trains. You have show your ticket while security guard is inspector the tri-rail ticket. You can look it up www.tri-rail.com to do search the fare whatever where you want go there.

There aren't too many places that offer "pub fare" near to TPA. However, there are a few hotels (like the Marriott Westshore) which are relatively close to 2 different malls. Honestly, you might be better off taking a cab to those places.... less hassle and shorter ride (vs. waiting 20-30 min for shuttle, then walking a bit to go eat)!
Both Westshore Mall and International Square are ...
