Sorry, IAHtraveler is right, it commences on Thursday at noon. I've rented for 72 hours, and used the coupon, and only owed for one day(72-48=24). But, I guess the standard adage is YMMV.

I haven't had a free weekend coupon in a year, but Avis "weekends" have always started at Noon on Thursday and end at 11:59PM on Monday. And the coupons were valid for a 48 hour period during that time, so long as you kept the car overnight on Saturday (ie, it was in your possession at 11:59PM Saturday night). I always go around noon, and the 3 ladies are definitely very nice. Not sure if my misfortune has to do with that their lot is full at that time, and they try to limit my intermediate upgrade to standard or at most full. They did give me an Avalon for a weekend though.

Sorry if this has been asked before (couldn't find it via search)... So I'm new to Avis First. I got my first weekend rental but I'm not sure how it works. Can I pick it up on a Friday and return it on a Monday or do I have to pick it up Sat and return on Sunday? Thanks for your help!

I also recently had to pay a $10 extension fee. It was pure stupidity on my part, as it was originally about a 12-hour rental, and I'd reserved it as a 12-hour rental. I ended up extending it to a 20-hour rental. If I'd just booked a 24-hour rental period (same price as the 12-hour booking), I would not have had to pay the fee.

Its a two day rental, commencing Friday 12:01am, and ending Monday 11:59pm, so any two days in that period. (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
