Just thinking he might start to get lethargic and hang about. BTW, can he see the ladies from his "tank window"? t

30 gallon cycling

It helps a lot. Thanks! I'll check Dollar Tree for the ammonia. I was thinking about an Aqua Clear, and with the addition of your endorsement that's probably what I'll get.

upside down catfish
Published (2009-12-20 05:40:59)
Do you think they would be happy if there were only 2? I thought catfish liked to be in a group...6-8+. I don't want to overstock my tank and I don't want to have lonely fish so maybe I should go w/ a smaller group of corries. Plus I don't want all the Mr. Hanky's Christmas Poo...if you've ever watched South Park?! I also have to keep in mind that I have a sand like substrate so all the poo will settle on the...

No he is in a different room. Wouldn't it cause him more stress if he could see them?

Another disaster......
Published (2009-12-21 07:34:05)
The disaster did not happen -- it seems that the eggs were not fertilized this time. Unfortunately, my males are uninterested in taking care of the eggs (they are supposed to hatch them), and it is the second time they don't bother to even fertilize them. Well, saves some work... Here is something possibly more interesting: Donno what this is This is a baby cory; the markings are different from either C.Panda or C.Metae, the two cory...

Thanks pL, I didn't think sharks or angel were a good idea, I was pretty sure they were both aggressive, but just wanted to ask in case there were any maybe smaller sharks available that I'm not aware of. I made that mistake once. Found black finned sharks (back when I was totally clueless and before I found FnF) that I really wanted. The lfs said I could keep six in a 13 gal tank. I had already learned not to believe everything that...

Baby "Minnows" in ACF...
Published (2009-12-17 07:38:49)
I don't know about acf's and apple snails, sorry. I do think your froggers are absolutely adorable! In general, always err on the side of understocking. ACF's are natural hunters so planning a community tank with them will always have some risks and need a back up plan. Good luck.

Ok, I need some ideas for...

I didn't mean that there's a problem with keeping livebearers and egglayers together. It just looks wrong to me, that's all. The lfs said I could keep six (sharks) in a 13 gal tank. Gotta love the petstore employees! You pay peanuts, you get monkeys I guess. Sharks are so relentless and territorial I would never keep more than one, unless your idea of pleasure is watching your fish harass and terrorize each other. Babies are...

Baby "Minnows" in ACF...
Published (2009-12-17 03:13:00)
I understand.... When ACFs want to eat something, they latch on, and start kicking and pulling leaping around in the water if they can't swallow it right away......similar to an alligator. I got the goldie out, and she had to get another tank.

So apparently I actually have 2. At least that I have seen now. They are hiding out in the plants, and seem to swim ok around the filter intake, so I am going
to keep them in the tank with the adults. I forgot in the excitement that I had medicated the QT tank. I can't really tell how old they are since I have
never had experience with fry before. Who knows how long they may have been in there ...

Oh, and don't worry, I don't plan to put guppies, platys, corys and neons all in there. They are just things I'm thinking about.

Was the cannister filter used when the TB was active?
What size of tank is the female betta currently in? (I think it is a 55, right?)
That test kit sounds like it covers the essentials.

Your 10 gal is cycled, I believe? You can add some more filter material to the filter now, and get it seeded for use in your new tank. That's really the
only sure way to cycle a tank very quickly. The only product I know of that worked was BioSpira, but I don't believe it's available any more.
For the stand, you can google homemade aquarium stands, but make sure whoever makes it knows what's...

Upon further research, I believe the fish is a fancy guppy. It's drab and brown colored just because it's a female.
