Buy a monolight and download gimp. You lose out on the adjustment layers (for the minute), but if you're starting out it's no easier or harder to use than PS but has the advantage of being completely free! Best of both worlds. :-)

I actually really don't like these images. I am sure a lot of people could come up with similar ideas. It's just we have to think smaller because of cash. If I had a team of people and the cash, I could come up with some great ideas Im sure, but I don't actually think of these ideas because it is pointless, instead I think of ideas that are feasible..

That's crazy. I find it highly ironic when people don't have water when it floods (not being mean; in a cosmic sort of way)

Rim light?... Jesus... subject/BG separation isn´t a rule :/ there´s enough separation from the BG as it is you just need to fill the side from camera left if you want to make it more even, but as a dramatic shot (concept!!!) it stands out really well, it all depends on the concept for the photo, don´t go adding rim lights just because someone said it is a "must"! :)

Yes on the computer it's C and D, C has the OS. But the error says that it can't find the file on the drive tht I'm copying files to.
Yes drag and drop is my style, it just happened like 2 days ago while I was trying to cpy a big folder (like 10gb), I haven't had problems transferring up to 300gb (that's the size of the folder of my 2009 photos).
And I am using 4 different external ...

"To calculate our increments in-between, we simply multiply each stop by our magic number 1.4 (which is, coincidentally, the rounded number of the square root of 2 (which is ~ 1.414))."
"~" means "approximately" or at least that's the way I learned it.
Thanks for the link

I've attached small wrist-straps to mine to hang them from lightstands. That's a common solution, and it works fairly well, but they swing and bang around when you move the stands. I've since super-glued 1/4-20 nuts to the back of them and have little clamps on my lightstands with 1/4-20 bolts that I screw them onto.

I think that the combination of a full frame DSLR and a GF-1 is the way to go. You then have the combination of portability and lower resolution for everyday stuff, great video implementation, and then also the capabilities and image quality of the full fame camera for specific projects.
In the next few years we should see a reduction in basic point-and-shoot cameras (replaced by ...

so by giving up TTL, I don't know the first thing about controlling light output with RF. With CLS, I am used to being able to change my SB 800 FEC from the camera menu. My manual Sunpak, I have to walk over to it and adjust every time as it only talks to my camera when inline, which it never is. Tutorial links, anyone?
I'm not a high end photographer, but like I said I've ...

Nope. Lighting is lighting, as stated above.
With a 285 in a shoot-thru you can get about f4 at 10 or so feet, I believe. Maybe a little more. Softbox or shoot-thru... both kill about two stops of light. You will be at full power, so add that to your style of shooting - about 5 second recycle.
Short answer, is yes, I...

Last one I sent in was $125 had a diff problem though. Give them a call Nikon can probably answer way more accurately than a bunch of people guessing at it.

I use Elinchrom Skyports with my X-700 (and all of my other cameras). I like them very much and they do the job. They work 100% of the time.

I see her as primarily a celebrity photographer. Her images seem to be known more for who they are of, than intrinsic merit. I can think of a few of these - David Bailey springs to mind.

I switched from XP pro 32bit to Win7 home 64bit. Very Mac-like, very stable, very fast. No problems since I got it (The day it was released).

I use a 17mm for portraits all the time. Never had a complaint. And I sell about as many prints of the wide as the 50mm shots. But it is a matter of taste.

Its amazing that a little thing when you're retouching can turn into a big thing.. I cant say I havent missed something while retouching. ...Luckily, I find it before the final. ( I hope) and I am just doing model port stuff and dont do alot of "resizing". but a big magazine should really pay more attention to the details.
It would sure be nice If Big publications would ...
