I'm not the one of the Nikkor aficionados, but I think the CRC has something to do with close focus correction.

Yup...I'm one of the guilty ones. I find PP too time consuming. I used to shoot exclusively RAW, but I got tired of keeping track of the RAW files and the JPEG files...plus they took up too much space. Is there anything wrong with using Vivid? Not in my mind. It's simply one choice, like in the film days when you could pick a film that produced punchy colors over one that produced more muted colors.

I used to, but shoot RAW now and edit with UFraw/GIMP so the in-camera settings do not apply. Everything is set to minimal or off in-camera so I can see what I am shooting.

i tried it, and everything went very well. there was no rubber grip since it is a really old lens. and the screws were just on the grip itself. i haven't been able to cure the problem very well since my screwdrivers didn't really fit in the screws, and i didn't want to damage them. but when i'll go to my parent's house i will be since my dad has really a lot of tools thank you guys once again!

Very interesting. This video makes me wonder how many more documentaries are doctored to this extent. I'll be watching with a much more cynical eye now.

According to my sources , serial numbers before 575001 are AI lenses produced prior to November 1981. Specifically yours is from the last AI batch, has three rear screws, and is marked MADE IN JAPAN with black filling. But yes, you can also just look at the aperture ring - an AI lens has ADR numbers that are all filled in white, an AI-S lens has the maximum aperture filled in orange on the ADR scale.

I could only find one completed sale on ebay - $129 so its probably a little over priced, but to be fair when they come on ebay they are sought after so could go higher... The mark 1 and 2's go for much less, and I see the mk 1's go very cheap these days...

I'm terrible at this too but here's a guess... A4 Paper is 8.27 X 11.69 inches (1.41 ratio) D40 has approximate image ratio of 3:2 (1.5 ratio) So I think you have to crop (or have a border)? Or else some dimension is going to be stretched or squeezed?

I've always been under the guise that infinity is just before the lens stops turning. Not sure where I read or heard that though, but it seems to work for me as well.

I had recently inherited a bunch of R-mount Leica prime lenses. I would like to know if anyone here has been able to mount these lenses on Nikon DLSR bodies and still be able to focus up to infinity. I've been googling about this topic and i saw a company (leitax) that sells conversion kits. does any body here have experience with this conversion? or are there ...
