WhatdidyousayGabe? Thank you, I’m amazed there all so sharp. Thank you Tim, Thank you Stan, I should have set my SB800 for full power and then the middle goose would be well lit though there would be the terrible smell of burning feathers. Morris

thanks eric. your photos are what got me interested in this so i'm telling my wife it's your fault.lol. honestly i don't know what i'm doing yet but it is very enjoyable to me. i think it's because you really have total control of the picture. have a light tent and small lights coming so maybe i can control the reflections better. thanks.

The landscapes are nice, but that portrait will be the one you'll treasure when you're in your rocking chair.

I'm willing to bet that the best art comes from crazy people. Essentially what everyone is saying here (and I'm in the same boat), is that we all have (probably undiagnosed) bipolar disorder ...sometimes we suck, sometimes we rock....depending on our mood. Winter, I suspect, is especially difficult because people also suffer from seasonal affective disorder . I've never been to a shrink, but I know I have both. *rocking...

This is something I haven't tried. Actually, I'm lying there as I once did some for a book I was working on where they were talking about watercolour techniques, so I do know what fun it is, and how hard it is to make things work. This last one is the better of the two, but I find it a bit cluttered - too much die in the bottom of the glass, and background too complicated. I think you need to spend more time on your lighting to get...

Jon... nice colors in #1... I think you received plenty of CC to get a better one next time. Some clouds would definitely add some drama. :)

I don't know enough to understand the process, but I like the results.
Love the deep blacks and smooth gradations of grays.
The second is my favorite, although the portrait is very nice also.

That was some snow Morris, wasn't it. We got almost 10 inches up in Westchester. I took a night photo at almost exactly the same time you did! I'd say this one was taken at 11:41 on Saturday night, from my front window. 1 sec exposure at ISO 2000 (Sigma 10-20).

yeti, i have neither of these lens but if you google search for images taken with these lens t might help you with your decision. several people here have the 70-300 vr and for the price i think it might be hard to beat but don't know how ell it would work inside. imo almost a two lens situation to cover what you want to shoot. seeing as you have a d90 you might consider a used nikon ...

I like your idea of "walkabouts"! Sounds relaxing and good for the mind.
Of your series, I really like the first two! The perpendicular lines of the river shore to buildings are quite appealing. Great b/w conversions also.
The last three are okay, but pale in comparison for me. Of those, number four might look cool if matted and framed.

Hi Suze,
I do believe that your standards and expectations are getting higher.
Once you compared your photos to everyone around and saw that your's were better, and now you hang around sites like this, See amazing work from some of the best photographers in the world, and then suddenly your photos seems not so great.
I got this feeling too, but I'm trying to harness it as an ...

I know okieprairie will get on to me when I say this, but please, send some of that our way!!! I would love to have some snow to play in for a while. Heck if we get enough of it, they'll call off work and I'll have lots of time to play!!
Love the shot! Makes me think of my younger days in Wisconsin.
Thanks for sharing!!

Welcome back and cograts on the sale, may many more follow!
Your website is very nice (and the photos are great), but you still need to iron out some bugs - I clicked on "Travel" and got an error page. I clicked on an image and it was opened both on the right part of the page, and in a new page.
I assume you did some research before going to Imagekind. Can you share a bit of ...
