This isn't the very first shot I took, but it was just the second day of owning my D40 and the first D40 shot I posted to Flickr.
Don't know how much I can say about it in detail. It's one of many I took of this cat (not mine) while getting a feel for the camera. Was using a -0.7 EV compensation as per
Ken Rockwell's advice. Only took it into Photoshop for some very minor ...

Basically the answer is "no", you do not want to use this on your d40 until you get a
voltmeter and check out the voltage.

Hi, I think her eyes look weird... Other then that, It's a bit
overexposed, but if you took it in RAW/NEF then you can correct some stuff...

set the aperture all the way open (that's f/3.5 on the kit lens) and focus on something close. adjust shutter speed and iso for proper exposure, or set it to
aperture priority mode.

my mother accidentally bumped my camera while it was on the tripod, the camera hit the carpeted floor and came off the tripod and now the zoom won't rotate, stuck at 55mm. How can I fix it? I'm scared to force rotate it.
