"great in low light" and "point and shoot" don't really go together that well. The new crop of larger-sensor small cameras might do the trick, but go over her $500 limit. I think "better" is what you're going to get: the new Canon S90 and the Panasonic LX3 both have f/2 lenses, which is very helpful in dimmer situations. I have an LX3 and it's better than any other ...
