yikes ! once I had posted that I tried removing the ".mp3" from the string passed as a variable in the embed tags and lo-and-behold it works fine now! so FF 3.5 doesn't like a dot in the vars in the url of the swf

Many, many thanks! I swear I changed that setting at one point, but in my frustration, overlooked and sure enough!! Now to get some sleep that doesn't include seeing little gray boxes with dots in them. This is a very good explanation of the headache that you have just ended for me. I would like to help you but i just don't understand what you are trying to do... even after viewing the file. you have one mc rotating when you click on button and another mc rotating when you click a second button... when should they stop?

Best bet would be to make a function and then call that function from Flash. on on the HTML side you'd have something like function popWin(url){ window.open(url,'WindowTitle','menubar=0,resizabl e =1,scrollbars=1,status=0,titlebar=0,toolbar=0'; } Then in Flash on your button you'd want something like: myButton_mc.onRelease = function(){ getURL("javascript opWin('http://www....

Actually by default flash maintain the aspectratio. To solve this you have to chagne the scalemode to "exactFit"
