Started out the day fishing on Lake George. We did not get any bites during the dark hours, but they picked up a bit after the sun came up. We each caught a few decent crappie and redear but nothing great. The fish mostly were lookers and not biters. There were about 20 people packed in a tiny area which is probably a big reason they were finicky. We left George around 9:30 and met up with Rick and Tim on another lake close by. We did pretty...

Local Ponds 12/17

Wayne and I hit some local ponds for some Gill's today. It was Wayne's first time out this year. We did pretty good on the numbers but the size of the fish was down from what we are use to. We had as much as 4 inches of Ice to as little as 2 inches on the ponds we fished. Wayne did get 2 Bass and I got 1 Bass. We ended up with just enough Gill's for Wayne to have a nice meal. The fish were very finicky at our normal hot spot....

I have a question, do you empty your gas tank or keep it full, there is a issue with a empty tanks collecting moisture as it heats up with air temp changes. Also treated gas in the motor keeps the seals moist. If gas evaporates in the motor that is bad Scum will form. Just my thoughts

He looks like he will be a great addition to the family. When I was a kid we had a collie, he was a great family dog very good with kids. My wife likes smaller dogs so we have a Yorkie, and a Scottie / Westie mix now. I have a soft spot for dogs, so I loved your post and pics.....

Back in June on the DEC pond I'd had just one fish in the first couple of hours. I decided to try anchoring at the southern end of the algae mats and fish the open water (at least open on the surface). I caught one quickly and went on to catch eight in one hour, nothing smaller than 17" and the biggest five went 20+.

Wow those colors are really pronounced! That is amazing I think gills/pumpkinseeds/green sunfish are the best looking north american fish IMO!
