I am in the same boat as you...
I have talked to the civilians FF's here at my base, all of them did some time in the AF. They told me that if you work for the state, example city fireman, cop, state employee, or a federal job, fed fireman. that you can "buy back" your
military time for retirement.
Example: say you did 10 years in the military. if you BUY back your military time during...

Most of the USAF Facilities that I am familiar with, enlisted personnel wear fatigues for their normal station "work" uniforms. Civilian personnel wear normal
Fire Department work uniforms.
You wear what is assigned to you, period. You may utilize your own accessories such as flashlights or utility gloves, small tools, etc. but protective ensembles are assigned and you may not deviate.

Wow...congrats to you
old timer. I did 10 years, and I have to say, that I don't see how you could have been or still be doing 24 on/24 off, because it sucks, plain and simple.
May I ask where you have worked all these years?

Don't get too discouraged. There are many people applying for fire jobs, and the the selecting official doesn't get to see every name and resume of those who applied (I can only speak on the Army side of the house). On our last few opening the department I work for had over 400 people apply for a few positions. The Chief only saw about 50 names on the referral list. There is no telling how ...
