I have some friends that have worked in international schools around the world. Apparently the often come accross children with no "mother toungue" at all, who can't really communicate properly in any language. This is usually the result of parent with two different languages (not english), who communicate together in English and who live in a country that has yet another language. Country moves introduce different...

All of the neuvola in every center have a scale available to weigh babies if you are worried about weight and growth. They don't ask if you go to that particular neuvola or not - you're allowed to use them.

Where to buy a baby (1yr+) swimsuit

We are not Australia, true, but sadly situation is getting worse here as well. And children deserve to be protected. As said, 2 year olds have no business being out in direct sunlight during summer. And protecting their eyes should be paramount, as their eyes are still clear so UVA and UVB enters it more easily. Long clothes should be worn at all times by very young children. Putting faith in sunlotion alone is foolish. Sun is not your enemy,...

private daycare in Helsinki area
Published (2009-07-03 14:10:00)
Yes, it seems it is rather difficult to find a daycare somewhere inside Helsinki center area. We have been looking for a place for several months now. All the places they are either full or they do not take children under 3. For the public daycare in Helsinki, it seems there is not that much of a problem getting a place. The only problem is we live in Kirkkonummi, so we cannot really get any public daycare place in Helsinki. The solution we...

Hi, We will be moving to Helsinki at the end of the summer and I'm just trying to investigate French schools for our 2 kids. They are currently enrolled in French immersion here in Canada and we want them to continue their education in French. I've found a school online called the L'école française Jules Verne. Their website leads me to believe that the school is for French children only. My...

For those of you with 10+ year old kids.. How much extra "work" did you do to help your children learn about the history of the other culture? My kid has 2 passports and we have always had extended visits to Grandma's in the summer so he knows the culture and traditions quite well from personal experiences. I'd like him to have a more intimate knowledge of the history, too. I have a few kid's ...

Hi there! I have searched a bit in the forum and it seems there is no such information. Hope that I did not miss out anything. Our son is 2-year old. For the past year he has been staying in a private family daycare in Helsinki. That was a normal family daycare as such that he is there from 9am till 4.30pm. But now the lady is pregnant and so we need to find a new place. We work inside ...

Hi, We were planning on taking the kids to Serena today but when checking the website and saw the prices we decided that the beach in Lauttasaari would do just fine. Is Serena that great that it justifies paying 75€ for 2 adults and 2 kids?

I find that hard, to believe, but mehilainen definitely have (in Töölö) (It's normal to see just a general doctor who will then refer to a pediatrician if there's something particularly wrong)
