I often don't have a lot of tolerance for people as self-destructive as him but I can't deny his cultural signifigance. Depp does a good job narrating. Its a bit disconcerting when the film jumps back and forth between actual footage of...

The zombies are actually properly terrifying, especially in the silent sugar cane mill scene, where the creaking of machines is the only noise as zombies silently grind sugar cane and their unfortunate co-workers who tumble voicelessly into the mill. I need to watch this one again, it's been a long time.

God I'm lame. These go back two months. I'll keep them short. (500) Days of Summer (2009) I found this irresistible and charming for the most part. The two leads are almost sickeningly cute. Loved the feel-good vibe of this film, and really respected the ending. Moon (2009) I was very impressed with this. Not just Sam Rockwell's excellent performance, but the pacing and the resolution as well. One of the better films of the year...

Everything's gone green First movie adaptation from a Douglas Coupland novel I've seen. Ever-present (as in the novels) are Vancouver, the Chinese mafia, the main character stuck in the McJob but who somehow meets up with the girl that is going to improve his life, the wacky family, the drugs and addictions. Captures the mood of his books pretty well, but in general I like the Bret Easton Ellis movies more (even though 'The...

I was wanting to show someone the King Kong discussion today after we had listened to a Tarantino interview where he was talking about the same thing. Can anyone find it? I've tried search without any luck.

The Reckoning A nice performance by Paul Bettany, and a good if somewhat
predictable tale. I worked with Willem Dafoe's brother last year for a few
months, and I'm finding it hard to not superimpose his brother's voice
(which is much more cheery) when I see Willem, but that's just me. Loses
points for the plot predictability as noted, and for Vincent Cassel's
general cheesiness, but period detail...

I have a question. Why are some movies like, for example, How Green Was My Valley, not in the top 250?
