Karalyn, my start date is May 1 but I will no doubt be there a couple weeks early. One of the beauties of the fulltiming lifestyle AND working is that you get a couple vacations a year... traveling to the next job. I have never been farther east than Colorado Springs, Co, and I want to take the opportunity to see that part of the country a bit before I settle in.

QUOTE (Anne Badgley @ Nov 6 2009, 03:32 AM) I had to look up moxie, as I thought it had a slightly derogatory meaning. But the definition sounds exactly like the qualities I work to develop: 1. The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage. 2. Aggressive energy; initiative 3. Skill; know-how. I am not yet full-timing, but have spent years doing things alone that more sheltered women seem to find daunting (like moving...

Gina, this is a little off the subject, but when are you planning to be in Wisconsin? Some of us in this area might want a little get together to meet you as we kinda feel we know ya from being on this fiberglass board. Please keep it in mind to let us know when you are up this way. Now back to the origional topic :-)

26 months total. The first 14 were spent with lots of travel. After we picked up our Casita in 2005, from Rice, Texas went up to the Northeast (running from first KATRINA and then OPHELIA), down to Texas again, two months in San Marcos, up to Big Bend, the Southwest, Death Valley, California, back across up North and into Canada. Many places, many people. We had planned on the Casita ...

QUOTE (Michael M @ Dec 15 2007, 11:48 PM) I gather a lot of couples do this, and single men. But it takes moxy for single women to go 'round full timing, right? Just curious. Here is a story about one. http://www.rvwest.com/features/nov/fulltimervlivin g.html

Gina, Are you going to put the new solar panel(s) on the roof, or use a free-standing rack like you were before? I remember seeing in a previous post that you had upgraded, but I can't remember how you installed the new system. It seems like you'd get plenty of sun on the roof if you'll be in the Quartzsite area. It will be good to learn how the water and waste toting works out in actual...

Hi Monica - thanx for posting the link to your blog. Enjoyed reading about your first days on the road - you certainly had some interesting adventures your first few days in Texas. We look forward to visiting the SKP headquarters in Livingston one day too. We are still learning, even after 3 years, but the 'learning curve' is leveling out a bit now. Keep up the posting and have TONS...

I came across this article from the Associated Press a few days back and thought it may be of interest. Seems more and more people are turning to living in RV's and automobiles as a alternative to being flat-out homeless. It's raising concerns with communities who have to face a growing population on transients living on the streets, and having to accomodate those who are trying to deal ...

My first tip would be to go back to the first post in this FullTimer Forum and read them all, esp the ones about properly establishing a home base/state -- Since you only intend to do it for six months (one lady I know was going to do it for a year, but that became longer -- She finally bought a log house in Tennessee and lived in trailer beside it while fixing it up -- She lasted two weeks...

I full-timed alone for nine years in a Jayco 16' and then my Scamp 13' -- I ran into several couples Full- and Half-Timing in 13' and don't know how they did it
