Hello orc_dragoon We'll need to know the type of network card in the netbook before we can even begin to guess. Code: lspci from the command prompt should tell us that. The make of the netbook might not go amiss either.

Hey guys, so I just did a fresh install of F12 and was wondering if there was a step by step guide on how to install the BCM4312 "driver" on F12. Since I'm dualbooting, I can access the internet via windows, so if there's anything I need to download please give me links too. Thanks so much, infernosoft

I use it over an OpenVPN connection to connect to clients machines. The one that came on the Fedora12 DVD has a box to tick on add connection tab to add to favourites but there does not seem to be anywhere to access favourites. There is an option export the connection you get a file save window with the directory greyed out and clicking save has no effect. May be I'm missing something. I like the fact that the KDE version is the same for...

Good to hear you are not using extra connection software. It sound like it may be a driver problem. Are the drivers for 32-bit and 64-bit F12 compiled from the same source? If not, you may want to try F12 32-bit, see how it goes. I myself am eager to exclusively use 64-bit F12, but I am having a few issues that makes 32-bit not just "good-enough" but easier and more usable for me, as a newbie to Linux. My Huawei e220 modem...

Hi Valente.ro The issue experienced on my end is a manual disconnect, and then trying a manual reconnect - not auto-reconnection. If you can , please have a look at http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=234541 they are having problems with a reconnect in F12 with an ADSL connection, while the problem is not in ubuntu 9.10 with kernel 2.6.31-14 Just a thoght? What if the problem is in the NetworkManager in F12? supposing the kernel is...

Tried Fedora12 Live CD (i686) on the laptop - same story :-( The modem is seen as a CD and remains so - I click "Eject" or "Safely Remove", it disappears, then 10 seconds later appears again as a CD.

UPnP blocked by Fedora 12 firewall
Published (2009-11-28 18:02:00)
actually, the best way would be to define a specific port that you want Transmission to use. then make sure you have that port forwarded in your router and also have the firewall configured to allow traffic through on that port. I don't particularly care for UPnP myself. I see it as a security hole. I don't like things that open holes up in my firewall and change router port forwarding without me specifically telling it to.

It might be worth trying F12, a live cd if you prefer, and see if it is recognised there. I understand new modem are being added.

Hello infernosoft
There have been some oddities with the broadcom-wl driver and matching what is installed with the particular kernel that you are running. That was so in F11, I'm not sure if the problem has carried through to F12.
Could I suggest that you run:
Code:
uname -r
to identify your kernel and:
Code:
yum list | grep wl
to identify what you...

Hello karljs,
See if you have a wireless connection in the Network Configuration utility ( system-config-network ). If so, then edit it and check the box "Controlled by NetworkManager". I also recommend UNchecking the box "Activate device when the computer starts". Restart NetworkManager (or even better, reboot) and check the NetworkManager panel applet again for available networks.

Most common WAPs act as a router. So what exactly are you trying to connect together ?
You have perhaps an F12 laptop with an Xyzzy wifi chip ?
What does the NetworkManager icon show ?
Since you aren't giving any details, i can only give you "shotgun" approaches to debugging.
IN a terminal window, as root try these commands and report back the full output of each.
ip addr
iwconfig...

Hello Kryss
NetworkManager as installed is more than capable of running with WPA keys. I have access to five wireless installations that do just that.
It may help if you post details of what wireless device you are using. Not just the manufacturers number but the chipset inside it.
Code:
lspci
or
Code:
lsusb

Hello Pavka, I notice you're running F11, but I believe that the latest Network Manager has "native" mobile connection functionality, without having to use the vodafone-mobile connect, which may have added drivers that are causing problems (?) , especially if you are certain that the kernel should recognize the modem. You may want to uninstall the vodafone software, and have a look at a manual ...

I'm not really sure what your asking but if it's name resolution such as Comp1 then it's a question and a matter of updating your resolution method (wins, file, other?). If it's a question of static ip on your tun then use the ipp persit or client config options.

Hello flstenner
We'll only be able to offer advice if we know about the wireless device. Not just the manufacturers model number but the chipset inside.
If you run:
Code:
lspci
or
Code:
lsusb
dependng on the type of device and copy and paste back the output we may be able to help.
