compiz on CentOS 5.4?

Hlinger - looking at the list of SRPMS, that's a LOT of rebuilding to be done. Is there documentation on how these should be ordered for rebuilding? Or is it a matter of determining dependencies and starting there?

I stand corrected on that point. Actually: I'm personally much more interested to know for sure if 32-bit C-F is or is not workable on 64-bit OS. V

So in a way, Ubuntu should be a half-step behind Fedora technology-wise? Let Fedora take the bleeding edge, and then as things get to a point of stability Ubuntu places it in their release? That's not all that bad of a position, since Fedora is not really targeted to the new-to-Linux user.

Well, Ironically I am downloading CentOS right now. Had some problems with my backup server today, it was accidentally running debian lenny. What happened was I had a pre-release iso of etch and when I installed and updated this install after etch's release it gave me the lenny repos. Well, I lived with it but some things were broken so today I redid my network and I am going to throw CentOS ...

Perhaps something like "older new users" would be more appropriate. Just who do these youngsters suppose invented computers, and the browser? I remember AMosaic on the Amiga circa 1993-4.

I'm not sure I understand your question. If you're using linux, you have access to a terminal without using a browser. If you're not using linux, there's still command-line in Windows which allows you to use DOS.
Anyway, what exactly are you trying to accomplish and how would you expect an online terminal to interact with linux?
Edit: However, check out this page: http://online....

Just like the title says. I've found some links in bugzilla.redhat saying it should be added soon, but I can't find why they don't support a file system that has been around since ~1993. I'm sure they have a good reason, I just want to know what it is.

Widgets have more functionality? Really? Whenever a widget tries to do anything even slightly complicated, it quickly becomes apparent, at least to me, that they shouldn't have. To me they're just eye candy.
Try searching for Screenlets or gDesklets.
Just FYI, while Apple didn't invent widgets, I'm pretty sure they were the first desktop to have them.

Huh?
Can't exactly tarnish the image of Linux as far as people who have never heard of the kernel are concerned. Those who have heard of Linux tend to be savvy enough to know that bad releases happen and that Ubuntu is not necessarily a reflection on all distros or on the kernel itself.

To install Tcl/Tk, do this (as root): yum install tcl tcl-devel tk tk-devel
You can test Tcl/Tk by using the Tk interpreter wish, like this:
Code:
$ wish
% pack [label .m -bg "grey90" -fg "black" -text "hello" -width 10 -height 3]
%
The $ is the bash prompt, the % is the wish prompt. That pack command should display a small window with the word "hello" on a grey90 background ...
