You have another application (probably PackageKit) running, must be automatically checking for updates. Wait until it finishes, then try again. There's often a lot of good online documentation too. (Though books are always good.). One problem though is that at first, there's so much information, you don't know where to start. As time passes, you get a better idea of how to look for yourself. You'll be surprised at how soon it can all start to make sense.

Looks like you're out of luck, best try ndiswrapper then, bbfuller has good detailed instructions, but basically, for i686, you need http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...fc12.i686.html http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...iswrapper.html http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...iswrapper.html and the windows *.inf and *.sys files, then rpm -ihv *.rpm ndiswrapper -i *.inf modprobe ndiswrapper

Is there a build of K3B that uses Qt 4 instead of Qt 3? EDIT: Now that I think about it, that would be K4B? Thanks, dd_wizard

This was happening to me. Turned out to be error messages produced by ddclient that triggered it. Fixing the error in my ddclient config file solved the problem. That may not be the cause of your problem though. Try reporting the bug in ABRT - it should open a window which gives information on what caused the crash.
Edit: Also, do you (or anyone else) have the problem that the "OK" button in ...

These tends to be the case, nvidia drivers especially on F12 require a little working to get them running smoothly
Somethings to try is to run KDE -- the built-in compositing in KDE seems to run more smoothly than those for Gnome. Also try compiz-fusion, I found using the fusion-icon rather than using dekstop-effects to toggle compositing seems to work better.
In the end, there should be ...

Hello carolinason,
You did the right thing starting a new thread of your own. First, the ndiswrapper question... It will be found in the RPM Fusion Free repository , and that has to be installed. Ndiswrapper is available from RPM Fusion in a kmod version and an akmod version. And then there is always the tried and true source version.
Back to your thread's title question... No, there are ...

sed -i edits the file in place
Use double quotes instead of single quotes if you want variable expansion inside a quoted string.

given it's life span (13 months) i don't think fedora is really suited for a server solution. debian or centos or even ubuntu LTS might be a better choice.
that said here are pretty decent tutorials for setting up different types of server (http, samba, etc.), you do need to forward the server ports (80 and 443 for hhtp for example) from your router to your server.

I have the same problem with you. I got the ignore message while booting the kernel, and the original Plymouth screen changed to a blue-and-white horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the screen. But the NVidia driver works fine, somebody in the Hardware section of this forum told me to ignore this message, so I just ignored it.
P.S. I have a pronunciation question, how to read Firefox 3.5.4? ...

You do know, don't you, that iptables is your firewall? Almost everything that access the network interacts with it, making it a dependency. Thus, if you remove it, you also remove everything that works with it. In the same way, if you remove cups, you also remove pretty much everything that prints, including firefox.

Works fine here....
Maybe you should provide more details.
For example;
WHAT does it do when it "crashes" (whatever that means...)?
WHAT hardware do you have?
etc.

Hey, I have the same problem and almost the exact same laptop. I haven't sorted it out yet but I found a thread in the Ubuntu forums that explains the problem. Not sure if the fix there will work in fedora, I'm gonna go try it now. Here's the thread if you're interested.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can suggest a stable and error free CD/DVD burning application. I am quite fed up with Brasero. I am using Gnome. I mainly burn video DVD's so I am looking for open source application that can burn video DVDs.
Thanks
