That's what I am looking for Abraxas... the more people who ask the question (and come back and state their findings) the more likely we are to get better 'coverage'.

fz6air/fuel mix problem ?

Ok. As i said, bike is stock standard, but was running a little rich (since i had the head redone). Running just a little lumpy, only ever felt anything when in low revs, and you hit the throttle. Was especially bad when taking the mrs to work (extra weight, low speed, low revs) SO i played with this yesterday, dropped C1 and C2 to -5 on the way home. Definite improvement, you could feel she was noticeably happier. Not quite right yet though,...

In my opinion the obvious suspects would be: 1)Bad bearings to start with, 2)Lack of lubrication, 3)Water damage, or 4) Abuse by owner. In my biased, unprofessional opinion I think that: 1. Yamaha has been doing this (right) for many years. They surely have their act together on the metallurgical aspect of bearings as well as the bearing's resistance to brinnel from being impacted in the exact same spot all of the time. (Unless something...

My 07 stays at approx 175-180 in high 80's to the low 90's in south Florida during the summer. It does go up some in traffic, maybe 200 in heavy stop and go traffic.... (This is with fresh anti-freeze, Prestone pre-mixed 50/50) Note: I did change out the antifreeze on all my bikes with prestone 50/50 not long ago. I can say with the FJR, it took longer for the temp bars to come up while sitting in traffic with the orginal...

Thanks guys. I've checked with local Yamaha dealers and they confirmed that it is not doable and feasible considering all changes required. Some outfits out there Traction Control Braking- TCB Brake Systems TM- Traction Control Brakes System or Saferide ABS offering alternatives which after reading I have great doubts if it would work and in fact not introduce even more risk.

Here's a pic of my bike, hopefully it helps.

45lbs in the rear is really high. Depending on how much baggage you're carrying, I'd drop it down to ~33front/36 rear. That's about what I run and I'm 255lbs. Also, again depending on your weight stiffen up the rear shock. I run mine at 6. Do both of those and you'll feel a HUGE difference.

I'm pretty new myself but the members here have taught me a ton. I'm also the furthest thing from a mechanic. In fact, reading your post, you're like Albert Einstein next to me. But your readings are very much like mine, and most everyone else here. One thing I've learned about most bikes, unless we're talking about BMW's or the Honda Gold Wing, they're just so much less forgiving and less ...

First off to the forum
I have heard of a few storys of the steering head bearings going bad. There have been people here that have replaced the bearings themselves without too much trouble. I feel that it is premature failure but maybe its just a FZ6 thing.

you should be fine with the mods youve made,
but to get the most from them add a power commander or up the settings thru the clock diag menu
increase the c1 and c2 values
use the search! some good info on it

My trick for upshifting from 1-2 is to not completely shut off the throttle while shifting. Usuaully I just accelerate, roll throttle forward enough to not allow the revs to drop too much, but enough to unload transmission, clutch in, shift, roll back on throttle and clutch out. I find that it is easier to do this if the throttle play is adjusted correctly. It took me about a week to get it down...

Try to adjust it before you do anything. (Remember too loose is better than too tight)
My shop tech told me to keep it adjusted just loose enough so that you could stick a nickel between the handlebar housing and the end of the lever. (He said most people tend to get them too tight) If you use up all of the adjustment then you may need a new cable. Good luck.

So far? All of 'em!
I'm at about 5250 miles and see little wear to date. I wonder that the average is? For those that did change, are you a city/commuter? Weekend warrior/Canyon carver? Both? I can easily see that the commuter will need brakes sooner than the weekend warrior.

Since you just installed new tires. I would probably guess that's what it is.

The letters refer to the color code as the fairings come painted.
DPBML is Deep Purple Blue Metallic
BS4 is Bluish-Silver?
To be sure I would call Ron Ayers before ordering.

No,i have not found 1 complete list.
When i first spoke to Yamaha SA, i was told the ONLY recall was for the TPS issue.
Subsequently, when i had the sprocket nut problem, they told me it was merely an ADVISORY, where they instructed dealers to se lock nut on that nut.
I asked (of course) what other advisories they are sitting on, and i was told NONE.
If you can find out any ...
