By Outer Cs i guess he's referring to the the outer knuckles, but that doesnt have anything to do with how difficult it is. Even If he meant the Inner Cs, it still doesnt make a difference in difficulty. Maybe he was thinking of the later model axles having the diff further offset? But that would only make a coil swap harder, not a leaf swap, and it would save you work in trying to get the diff to clear the x-member, so its kind of a...

52" tire on 2.5 tons is asking for carnage Unless it's a heavy ass military tire like the XlM, but they don't get grip for piss.

Doing Rockwell SAS
Published (2009-12-30 10:56:00)
Hello, I am going to be doing a Rockwell 2.5 ton SAS on my '87 Bronco. This is strickly going to be a mud truck and it won't be running on the road anymore. I would like to reuse the rear springs because they are in very good shape and I am on a very tight budget right now. My plan is to put in a add-a-leaf, reverse the rear shackles and use a 6" block / perch on the Rock to net approx 12" of lift. The Bronco...

Day 3.
I ordered my cage arms months ago but they took over a month to arrive but I did finaly get them with almost everything but the jam nuts for the hiems. I also ordered the 6.5" coils from them and they took 2 months to arrive. Waiting for parts is making this build take longer then it should which is why I am currently making this thread instead of working on the truck. Anyway...day 3...

Chevy TRE's and DOM
TRE's Over knuckle
4" lift
Edit: I dont have the TRE part numbers on hand. They're from Lee Auto from a 3/4 ton Chevy. All 4 are 7/8" x 18TPI and I used 1.5" DOM with weld in bungs from ballistic fab. Track bar is 1.5" with 3/4" left and right heims from ballistic fab with weld in bungs.

feel free to look for my sas thread. i should have pics of my rear 4-link posted NLT monday night. Would've been sooner but my camera died. anyways, depending on how much lift and articulation you are looking for and what tire size you are planning to run and whether or not you plan to drive it on the street, you can do things differently than mine but.... none the less, they should give you ...

It's tougher then the 8.8 and I'll probably find a full-floater in the same
or better shape in the JY, but right now the semi-float is cheaper. Plus
I'll be using what I already have instead of scrapping good parts like my
dad wanted me to do. I'll also be getting more of my moeny's worth out of
the truck then just the tranny and the t-case.

the better way to move your axle foreward is to move the coil buckets. I am not sure why you would do a sas on one truck, then take it off to put it on another truck, that kinda seems like a waste of time. the rear should bolt right up to your springs, and if you are using lift springs they should fit both trucks. pretty much everything is bolt in except for a track bar mount. you should read...
