I talked to Corey and Bill last Tuesday and had my new Gryphon on Friday.I asked the same question and was told that a gryphon with no tunes is an edge as far as the tunes go BUT think of it as a cracked edge..like a cracked or jail broked I-phone...meaning the program is cracked and can now except the upgraded tunes..and its black which looks nice. Both list for 399.00 but if you ever want to upgrade the edge you have to pay to get it...

Now, to install the Gryphon (or Evolution), follow these steps:
1. Make sure your ignition is turned to OFF.
2. Open the driver side door and remove the access panel on the left side of the dashboard.
You can just stick your finger into the hole and pull straight out. There are a series of plastic clips, but they're pretty resilient and the panel isn't in very tight at all....

Only your transmission. According to informed sources (Troyer), the Torque Converter will start to balloon at around 5400 rpm. If you don't ...

I have an 09, and everyone seems to say to hold out for the Edge Evolution. I am leaning towards it because it not only does programing (which I'm not into yet), but it also provides a 4 way digital display of engine readings (ie rpms, manifold temp, etc). They haven't released an 09 F150 one yet (only 250 and above), but the rep I talked to said it's should be out before Xmas.

You could research these:
PHP»Gryphon or multi position chip.
Troyer»SCT Xcal.
VMP»SCT Xcal.
Edge»EVO.
Hypertech?
There are a lot of options out there for you and your truck. These are just a few options for you.
What are you looking for?
Plug+play?
Canned tunes?
Custom tunes?

I know little about it, but it;s my understanding that the tune in the PCM controls the air/fuel ratio, even if you have an intake providing more air. i have read that the stock MAF is capable of providing all the air the tune wants.

I guess my main question is about the torque converter function. I would love it if the edge would modify that. Just havn't read anything that says it does that.
The performance part of it would be nice but I'm kinda sceptical about it. I have a predator for my wifes mustang, and to be honest I wasn't realy impressed.
It did take about 2 tenths of at the dragstrip but as far as ...

how do you choose????
you have to decide which one you want, if you want a gryphon then PHP is your only option, if you an sct product you can go to either one
asking people to choose one or the other is like urinating uphill into the wind
it's gonna get bad real quick...

#1. there is an equation where you can enter in your tire info and solve the equation to get your tire circumference in millimeters. i think this is it>
[(width x ratio x 0.002) + (rim x 25.4)] x 3.1416 x 0.97 = tire circumference
#2. from what i have learned, if you dont run the required octane which the program level requires, you can retard the timing.
#4. i have got ...

I would proceed with calling Edge before I would hook it up to my truck. I bet anything, your edge will not work. They can get it fixed for you but its going to cost ya.
