Dave, there is a couple who fulltimed in a truck camper and had a Datastorm on the roof of their camper. I don't think they're still doing this, but I believe he posts over on the Datastorm Users Group. I imagine his website detailing his purchase of truck and camper is still available....unfortunately, I don't remember his name or the URL of his website, but I'm sure someone here can give you that information!

One possibility might be... 98 east to Tylertown 27 south to Franklinton 25 to Covington Causeway to Metairie One thing, though, I would really, really try to hit Covington at a time other than afternoon rush hour if possible. During rush hour, Covington is a bear. Otherwise, it's not so bad. It's been quite a few years since I traveled any of those roads but I don't remember them being bad roads at all. I55 was awful last time...

I traveled I-55 last spring and it is in much improved since we last travled it in '05, I too dreaded it and was surprized that most of has been repaved. We came from Wisconsin all the way down and back on I-55 in a MDT.

I live in BC and have been going on camping trips here for years. Simply put, British Columbia is a camping paradise. The nature here is just unbelievable - if you travel the province from east to west, you will encounter huge mountains and dense forests, then a desert and dry canyons, and will finally come to the sea. Then, take a ferry to Vancouver Island and go to the island's west coast to experience the endless beaches and the...

Hi LindaH, LeslieW and Gambler, Thanks for your replies. I was afraid Satellite might be necessary and I need to figure out if it will fit in a truck camper. Pretty crowded. I never thought of libraries. That would be a good partial solution. Thanks Again, Dave

Gulf State Park is a wonderful place to stay in Gulf Shores, Alabama. All sites level, concrete, full hookups, and right across the road from the beaches. Joe

We'll be travelling south from Natchez, MS to Metairie, LA in a couple of days. Two years ago we made a similar trip and I-55 was in horrible condition. Does anyone know if there have been repairs to I-55? Or is US 61 through Baton Rouge a better choice? We need to make it in one day. Thanks.

We were in Alaska five years ago and drove both highways with our motorhome. The Top of the World was the only highway that we drove on that was washboarded. We found that the road smoothed out when we drove a little faster rather than slowing down. The Cassiar, at that time, was not yet paved and was quite muddy but had a good rock base. We Had no flats on either the motorhome or toad. We are planning on going back again next year. We will...

We traveled Alaska in the summer of 2008 (May-October). Although we do not have satellite, we posted a blog every day. When we spent a month along the southeast coast, we visited a public library every day. On the mainland we tended to rely on campground WiFi, laundries, etc. It can be done without satellite. For the summer of 2010, we intend to keep our Verizon aircard active. (In 2008 we had suspended our Verizon aircard because Verizon had...

Probably the surest way to make sure you have Internet access is to go with satellite Internet and make sure you are assigned to a satellite that covers Canada and Alaska. Trying to rely on either WiFi or an air card through Canada and much of Alaska will not allow you every day access.

We did a number of years ago, and it was just fine. We were there for the big watermelon festival and parade. After all, Cordele is the watermelon capital of the world and the home of one of my favorite basketball players Wayne "Tree" Rollins. I have never seen so many dang watermelons in my life when the harvest was on. Enjoy!

BigMike, Not sure which route you are using getting down here, but there is a huge Texas Travel center/rest stop on Rt 77 just north of where 77 runs into rt 83. Lots of fliers on parks, trails, and what not's for the valley area. Mike and Pat Mcfalls wrote about this rest area in their blog this week. Mike and Pat's blog

QUOTE (Cathy and Paula @ Nov 14 2009, 02:05 PM) I am looking to travel to the Orlando area in December for a couple of weeks, do you have any recommendations on parks to stay at. I would like to stay were they have full hookups and not pay and arm and a leg. We are new to this RVing thing and trying to figure out where we should stay because everything looks good on the internet ...

We really like the Brazos Bend State Park. It is about 25 mi. south of central Houston but since you are staying on the northwest side, it should be convenient. It is a beautiful, quiet park with alligator ponds, trails, etc. The roads and sites are paved and the park is kept nice and clean. We have children and grand-children in Houston so we have used the park several times. A couple ...
