1) When it comes to dry camping with no shore power supply it would mean that you will need an inverter to power the refrigerator but when driving if you do not open it, you should be find. You can use the generator to keep in running but of course that will also mean more fuel. Some camping areas do not allow the use of generators, but that probably would not be an issue if dry camping. 2) Probably so, but you do need to check weight limits...

QUOTE (Yellowrose @ Nov 9 2009, 03:10 AM) Hi, Carol - I would prefer something a little bigger myself, 28ft. isn't quite enough room for me, my chihuahua and cat. But where I once thought bigger was better, I'm thinking somewhere between 30ft. to 34ft. might work. Of course, the slide-outs really help too so we will see what I end up buying in a year. BTW, I made sure the fifth wheel I bought had at least one...

QUOTE (Jack Mayer @ Nov 10 2009, 07:44 AM) Holly travels solo with a LARGE class A. Yes, Jack, I do. Instead of just thinking about the SIZE, consider WHAT TYPE of full-timing you will be doing. Do you want to be on hookups all the time and stay in one place 1-4 weeks or more? Do you want to do a lot of boondocking? Do you travel with a pack of animals as I do? I have a large A, because I wanted a generator, inverter, w/d and...

I got tired (and tennis elbow) waving back at all those saguaro cacti Our Chevy Trailblazer steering wheel does not lock when you take the key out, so no problem there. I just back until the hitch arms lock, or if the motorhome is at too much of an angle, drive it foreward a few feet until the arms lock while we are doing the light...

I find the Class "A" easier to drive and back up than the Class "C". It is still gas and we pull a toad, it has more power than the "C". I like being able to...

Wind and awnings
Published (2009-11-10 16:21:00)
Our big awning doesn't have side arms so we have nothing to attached deflappers to and we take ours in whenever she starts bouncing. And most evenings I'll bring it in unless I am very sure that the winds will be very calm all night. I will even roll up the smaller window awnings when things get very windy as I don't like to see them straining against the strap. Barb

Gusts to 15-20 are about as much as I trusted the awning out in and that was a small fabric one with de-flappers. We never left the rig with it out and usually put it in when we went inside.

Tyler I appreciate your candor about having your Dad in the Guard and that the military is not for you. That saves my sucessors a lot of time in basic and/or boot training. Lots of folks don't have any exposure and the military may just be a way to be employed, travel, or just get away from home in addition to those who join knowing that it is the life they dreamed of since being a kid, like those that want to a be a fireman at age six...

As a newbie to having an awning, I'd like to ask how high the wind gets before you retract your awning. I am in a rented Class C right now and I'm paranoid about damage to the awning. -------------------- Full-Timing since 8/09 1997 Scotty Highlander Co-pilots Arthur and Thomas (need to replace them, they can't read maps!)

For a realistic value you need more information than that as there are five versions of the 2004 Excursion shown in the NADA website . That is the place to start, once you know the specifics of the unit. An even better way would be to get as much information about it as possible and then visit a main library and ask in the reference section to use their paper version of the NADA book for ...

Welcome to the wide world of RV Parks. I think the short answer is, you are in the wrong park. Our first winter in the RGV in TX we found the same thing. Some parks have people that return year after year and are not interested to become friends with folks who are only there for a short while...usually less than 3 months. I believe you will only find this in winter destination parks, the ...

We have a somewhat similar situation as there may be other people with us at times, plus I have a business that will go with. What we settled on was a toy hauler 5er where the "toy" space can be used for my business or a separate bedroom for my parents when they travel with us - it even has a 1/2 bath. We haven't bought it yet, but definitely know that this is the one we want. There are ...
