Members of this board, particularly Reeves, completely eviscerated your arguments on that thread, Dr. Yates. And you really embarrassed yourself with your insinuation that a natural fear or pain reaction is the same thing as making a moral claim. Denial is not a river in Egypt, Roger. Oooo, denial jokes, I like...

Paraphrasing does not mean to completely make up something that is not true. In light of what the article did state., paraphrase could read "bull fighting ban vote to be held," and certainly not that a bull fighting ban had been passed. Good suggestion...

Mourning is one thing, but empty stomach sometimes can overrule mourning emotions. What do you find amazing? That chimps feel sorrow? Well, I guess if you have never considered the emotional lives of animals, it could seem amazing. But I don't understand what chimp...

Actually SD, vegetarian eating is very satisfying. Culinary delights await you if you are brave enough to wade...

That is clear from the article. This is why you have ZERO credibility anymore. Take it up with the journalists. As for ZERO credibility, I think you are quite wrong. I know exactly where my heart is and when people speak from their hearts, there is...

Learning about animal rights
Published (2009-12-18 09:00:00)
"You have in mind Q&A 12?" Yes, given the intentionality (not "accidental") of animal harm in the course of vegan crop agriculture. Also, given the knowledge that vegan consumers have of animal harm in their vegan products but continue to consume them, thereby endorsing (however reluctantly) the method of production and increasing the demand for that product, and therefore, causing more animal harm...

I was being facetious, Animal friendly. Though, if you think about it; the clear-sightedness displayed in Maine in contrast to events in Catalan may say volumes about the two locations..... Bull-fighting has pitifully little interest to me as entertainment but as long as it's Catalans deciding for themselves what they wish to do; it's ok with me. It's when outsiders start wishing to decide how Catalans lives should be run things...

not sure I would want to start eating dogs to cull them out, but I think you have a good point. over selecting for a few 'desired' traits leaves dog breeds open to other problems..not just dogs either. I am reading Temple Grandin's 'Animals in Translation' and its a real eye opener to how we accidentally affect animal behaviours through breeding programs that over select for specific desired traits...

While chimps and other animals do grieve, chimp behavior dictates, it would be more "accurate" to say that the chimps "gathered to see" what was being done/happening to a member of their group...curiosity. BTW you forgot the link to the article.

Chill out, dude, they're just insects. It is unlikely they possess much "sentience". Your outrage is a waste of energy, as what you are really mad at is the food chain, which is simply the way of the natural world. That isn't going to change, so there is no purpose in getting your blood pressure up. As for 'humanely killed" prey, that doesn't work, because most herps and inverts do not recognize ...

The tricky bit is, clearly, some folk find value in such breeding programs. I don't particularly care for it, personally: but who's view should be the guding light on such things? Is it mine(Or anyone elses) business to tell other folk what they should be doing with animals in their care? If it's legal and doesn't directly effect me; shouldn't I just mind my own business?
