Yesterday I emailed Stefan Robl author of AmiDock. The idea besides thanking him for his work, was to kindly ask him if he could release the early OS4 development version of AmiDock which according to an article i read somewhere, was running in AmigaOS 3.9 and had the dockies/subdockies feature. I remeber the article had a couple of screenshots showing AmiDock in action. I tryed to find them on google, but only found the following image at...

@kolla 45.1 is 68000 code, but PNG icons were never supported by OS 3.5 or 3.9 without the PowerIcons patch, AfA or Scalos. 45.1.6 has two 68020 instructions in the IconBeFast hunk and thus crashes. I'll make a special version for you with 68000 instructions only if 45.5.5 really won't work for you. OK? 45.5 is 68000 code, but maybe you have to delete and recreate some ENVARC:sys/*.prefs first to get all icons. Check the settings of...

Ive just upgraded my workbench for the firs time in years. Its great! I got it just about working with a recoverable alart. first time worked fine but now i cant get the screen to save on high res laced. just stays on the old low color grey palete making the icons look crap. Any ideas guys? it doesn say save in screen mode, just test.

With no info, I'd have to venture a guess that you have the usual AmigaOS 3.9 problem. Either re-copy the gadget files on the install CD to the Sys:Gadgets manually or there's a corrupted 68040 or 68060 library. If not, it could maybe be a missing Env-Archive dir, if you accidentally deleted it.

Published (2009-11-08 11:44:00)
Servus thomas, thanks mate. I have today tried all sort of things like even getting a different SCSi CDR to no avail. Like I mentioned before, the problem seems to be a conflict with the ExpXDS.device as I have been able to access the CDR under other programs such as BurnIt. The strange thing is that if I cancel the initial configuration requester and continue to navigate through the different MakeCD pages, I don't get into any...

It seems that there is a conflict when MakeCD accesses the ExpXDS.device. I found a backup of a previous workbench installation whereby I used MakeCD on my A2000 and at the time I used a SCSI writer which used the ematscsi.device. I copied the tooltypes and settings listed in the MakeCD icon information tab, and renamed the ematscsi.device to ExpXDS.device. Now when starting MakeCD, I get a ...

What Amiga you are trying to run 3.9?
How much fast RAM you have on it?
Have protected the boot partition prior the upgrade or after it?
Did you erased the envarc:/prefs after the upgrade?
OK, one affirmation after all those questions: the modes can't be saved if you don't test them first. That's a OS3.9 normal behaviour.
BTW: you put the thread on the wrong forum place, ...

Are you trying to install from CDROM...if so, how have you hooked it up to your Amiga?
Also, is the a clean install or are you installing over the top of an older version (eg an upgrade)?

With your setup:
With graphics card:
Origin Web Browser 68k version
NetSurf 68k version
Without graphics card:
Ibrowse (It is worth buying a secondhand key as it is faster than Aweb)
Aweb (it is free!)
Thats it!
PS: We have no Elinks port on the Amiga.

If you've made up your mind about learning a specific program, why learn an old version? Just learn by the newest trial from http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/lwtrial.php Yes it's not on amiga but it's the same old lightwave, decide which is more important to you. IMO retrocomputing is a hobby and serious software is serious business.

Hi Andrew,
I'm not very familaiar with Mac emulation on the Amiga. I own several Macs and emulation, when I need it, is carried out in DOS/Windows on a PC.
However, there are several common features between Mac emulation on a PC and an Amiga.
This site can provide all the ROM and disk images you will need for successful Mac emulation on any platform.
In particular, ROMs ...

i found a cracked version of PCX 2.1 - not tested, but worth a try (CRX-PX21.LHA - in the zone).
not much advices, but try snoopdos with pc-task4.4 - maybe something is missing. look for a readme in this 4.4 version - maybe a history/changelog is given.
"Can't open or use screen" - maybe another expression for "out of chip memory"? not sure here. you could also try a screen promoting software...
