Noobie.......Break history link?

The simplest way is to test by deleting the unwanted surface. Obviously, make sure you save the file before testing. In general, if a feature is a child of a feature higher up the tree, then that parent feature cannot be removed from the tree. However bodies (surface and solid) can be deleted from their respective folders. This creates a Delete-body feature which effectively removes those bodies from the tree from that point on, but without...

Hello all, I am coming across many different things I have not seen done before while working this contract job. I noticed that all of the nuts and bolts have been created from scratch (not from TB) and they all hace an axis included. On the assemblies, they mate the axis of the bolts with the axis of the hole they are being used with rather than concentric mates. Why would this be the...

Put all of your hardware in a folder specifically for hardware, so it can be easily found for future projects. Don't get hung up on "intelligent" file names. The only thing that really matters is that each file name is unique. Keep your house clean. Don't leave copies of files all over the network. That WILL lead to problems. ( Talked to the driveworks people and they informed me that driveworksXpresss will not create configurations nor will it be able to use the spread sheet I have with all my variables. I'd have to manually fill out each form. So I think my best bet is to use a design table and try and figure out how to get a macro to copy a drawing and change the config. then save as config...

Hi, I am fairly new to solid works and so this may seem a bsic question to some. I have done some searching but not found an answer to this yet. I want to break some surface construction history to reduce the clutter in my tree suring concepting. e.g. In a single part. I want to create a surface offset from a solid face. I then want to untrim this surface. No prob's so far, I can do this. ...

( Crtl c crtl v should've worked. You can also drag the view in the featuretree from one sheet to another. A suggestion when you do this from ASME Y14.3-2003 is to add a label next to one of the section letters that tells where the section view resides. , )

It sounds like you imported the STL file as a graphics body, as opposed to a solid or surface body. Check your import options when importing the STL file. You can create a solid from an STL file, although there is a limit on the number of facets in the file. Big files will only give you the option of creating a graphics body.

( I'm not sure about overall performance, but there are some issues that you may run into regarding fixed parts versus mated parts. First of all, if you try to toggle between a part being fixed and mated in place you will confuse the hell out of SW, and you'll probably get a lot of overdefining error messages even if your assy isn't overdefined. Also, you may run into issues with flexible ...

I disagree that it should be as you stated, but you can change the Header title to whatever you want to see. Just double click the cell to change its contents. The 'behind-the-scenes' properties being referred to in the columns are the SW defaults.
