Resize for maximum 4x6 printing
Published (2009-11-11 19:35:00)
You may not want to crop, but cropping is the way to go. Otherwise you image is not 4x6, and either the printer will do a crop for you, and you may not like the printer's crop; or it will print white space. Also, when you say " I don't want it to be able to produce a good image above a 4x6 print" ... you would only crop a copy, not the original, for a specific size. You would never crop to 4x6 and then use the same...

Hi wendy, Well I have uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime once again and everything seems to be working OK I also now have Vidoelan as well and will use that on some applications. I not sure at this point what was wrong or what I did to fix it but I'm leaving it alone for now. Thank you much for your help. Paul Olson

question about puzzle tutorial
Published (2009-11-14 00:06:00)
Part of your problem with the selection may be that your puzzle pieces are small so that the lighter color of the bevel takes up more of the puzzle piece.... so first fix that problem. In the step where you are in the texture dialog, where the sliders are, use the Scaling slider to increase the size of the puzzle pieces. Then, try to make your selection of a puzzle piece and hopefully it will get closer to the edge. If the selection is still...

I am also having problems emailing from PSE 8 ( on Windows 7). I have Thunderbird selected in Windows as my default email client but elements tells me there is no email client and then just sits there with the little hourglass icon indicating something is happening until I close elements and there is the email sitting there ready to go. I upgraded from PSE 4 where I never had a problem ...

Hi Carol, An "action" is a series of pre-recorded steps which may be "played" to perform the steps automatically. Elements cannot create an action, however an action created in full Photoshop may be played in Elements. Photoshop has commands and tools which are not included in Elements - but as long as the action contains only commands which are available in Elements, the action can be "...

Hi Trent ... ...and welcome to the Village It depends really on the actions ... for PSE8 ideally the should have and action file .atn a png file and an xml file. The .atn is the action itself, the png is what will appear in the palette under Photo Effects and the xml file is what makes the action show up in the Photo Effects section under its own category (rather than in Show All) If ...

Valerie, is your document 4x6, or is it larger and you're reducing it while printing? It's important that you make your document 4x6 and not let the printer reduce the image. Also, are you choosing center in the print set up? How much of it is being cut off? If it's a little bit try running border less. Some printers have a safety edge beyond which you cannot print. Check you manual ...

You said you have Photoshop Elements 3, you can initiate the Catalog Recover command by holding down the Ctrl key as you are starting the Organizer and you should eventually see a popup asking if you want to recover the current catalog - where you can say yes/OK. Not sure from your description if this will fix the entire problem. You might also need to rebuild the thumbnail cache. ...
