squeaky springs
Published (2009-01-07 10:52:00)
They should be split down the side. They are supposed to be capable of being installed while the springs are still on the car. Just lifting car up, removing the wheel, you'll be able to install them with no problem.

Keeping Ones Cool
Published (2009-01-08 03:26:00)
Amazingly enough...these cars, mine at least, rarely, if ever, need the fan to go on. They run at a certain temperature and remain rock steady. I was just wondering about the gls vs the gt's gauge discrepancy. I have been buying new Hyundais since 1991 and the gt is my 1st used car in 17 years so i was a little uneasy is all.

The Dreaded Clutch Question
Published (2009-01-07 18:10:00)
^ Something not mentioned. . . BOTH my previous clutches had a lot of material on the disc itself. The issue was the disc was so glazed and the PP/Flywheel had a ton of hot spots. Both would slip under acceleration pretty bad.

window stuck!!
Published (2009-01-05 16:37:00)
ok. i took my car into my aunt's body shop this morning, and the issue was that the runners on the bottom of the window had come off of the glass. all they had to do was take out the glass and epoxy them back on. since i know the guy, he did it for free, so i got the shop a dozen bagels from the local bakery as a thank you. so in all, its fixed now. thanks for all your help? haha

Here is a question for gls/gt owners alike. My wifes 04/gls and my 05/gls have always read identically on the temp gauge. The gauge NEVER goes beyond 1/2 way on any given day. Hot days or cold, day or nite, weekdays of weekends, it ALWAYS stays just a click below the 1/2 way mark. Hers gets up to temp a little faster than mine but the readings are always the SAME. At 105,000 miles i did the ...

The wifes heater/ac will only blow air on the HIGH setting. 1/2/3 are a no-go! Common sense tells me it's the switch but i have heard there are also relays that can cause this problem. I bought a used switch panel (all 3 switches) from flea-bay but it didn't solve the problem. The switches i bought could have been bad as well, so any advice from the learned here, is appreciated. The fan motor...

Ok...So i know about the slave cylinder clutch ectomy but i'm wondering what else is involved in order to keep the Elanta clutch setup healthy. When ever the cold weather hits, the pedal becomes stiff and reluctant to come up off the floor. If you accelerate hard, immediately, well...you KNOW! A thorough clutch bleeding seems to help but not cure the problem. I occasionally rev the car to ...

My dad's stock 01 gls has had a problem the last two years or so. When the seasons change (ie during the fall and spring) his car throws the CEL. Usually he just ignores it and it eventually goes away. I tried to clear the code while I was home and I couldn't (meaning the problem still exists). The car has appox 104,000 miles. I have driven it and it seems to drive/sound just as a stock ...

The other day i changed my CV joint at a good price 65,000 won ~$50. But as I went up a small ramp and I cracked the front lip on my air dam. To get it fixed cost heaps, so I will try to do a DIY. What materials do I need?

Well I was driving and I stopped at a light and I saw smoke coming out. I pulled over and it smells like toasted something, I checked under the hood and I saw a lot of moisture, not sure what it is as it is late at night, maybe coolant. I got in the car and started driving slowly and I noticed that when blasting the heat, right most knob all the way to red, and the button to close the vent on, ...

well, i am currently on my 2nd transmission. dealer replaced the first one under warranty with a rebuilt one. today while driving, i noticed the transmission, what i believe to be, SLIPPING when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. when it comes out of 2nd, instead of going right into 3rd gear, the rpms hang a lil, then it goes into 3rd. and im assuming this is also a transmission problem, when im ...

Hey Guys, Great site you have here. Long time lurker, first time poster. My issue is with a 2002 Elantra GT. For a several years now I've been noticing uneven tire wear affecting outside edge on left front wheel. I have done multiple alignments, wheel/tire shuffling, tire balancing etc. All to no avail. In addition to the tire wear, car also pulls to the left and i get strong steering wheel...

like it says, my drivers front window is stuck about half-way down. this would not be too big of a problem, but it is 25 degrees out right now, and its the middle of winter. i started having problems with it last summer, i think i made a thread about it. my hunch is that the window somehow got out of its track, but i dont know how to put it back in. i know how to take off the door panels, as i ...

heres the story, with winter upon us, heat is gold. I dont have any, unless the car is moving. I took it to a garage (my father is the service manager), and the car needed 7 liters of antifreeze. Dont ask me where it went because I dont know. I dont have any green spots in my driveway, engine bay is clean as a whistle, no smoke from exhaust, nothing. It was fine when we put the antifeeze in, but ...
