PS: African schools/ countries can be culturally rewarding but tend to pay peanuts. I never fancied the ME except for Oman.

empoweress: please point out if i am missing the obvious here - but i am assuming then that if they employ a married male then he would be married to a teacher whom would also be employed by the school - otherwise whats the difference? So are they only looking for married teaching couples - or what about as in my case a teacher plus IT Technician? I dont really know what you are asking. Let me give you an example to...

Dear thread keeper/s I write to you expressing my gravest fears for the readers of your thread. For some time now my distinguished colleagues have been engaged in research into the effects of extreme vapidity on the health of one's mind and body. The subjects of this study, all volunteers of course, were asked to read without flinching the entire 2000 page discourse on Dr OC Indiana's thesis on the difference between directional and...

bagua, //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I have had a look at the report I quoted above for some Queensland details. In 2002-03, the Queensland government’s real recurrent expenditure on education was $4,288,086,000 in 2006-07 dollars. In 2006-07, it was $5,090,083, also in 2006-07 dollars, giving a real increase of $801,997,000. That is an increase...

Hi, You are right about the 2 cities. Shanghai is a lot better place to live than Beijing as the skies are clearer and less polluted, there is more to do and the centre of town has a lot of character. I have been to both and I would recommend Shanghai every time. The salaries at D are supposed to be right up there and the accommodation is class (I know as a friend used to teach there). He would go back if he could so that says...

Anyone know anything about this school for brothers and SISters? Based on the Singaporean model. Teaches IGCSE and IBDP at the upper end and touts itself as a Swiss-style finishing school.

Not to sound unhelpful but the idea is that you explain how YOU would answer the questions. They are very typical of the CELTA application and sorry to sound harsh, but if you can't answer them, perhaps it's not for you. They can all be answered by looking up grammar points In the spirit of not being entirely mean, I'll start you off. For q1, think of it with 'opposed to' or ...

Hello W2009, Absolutely stunning facilities! The job I wanted info on was filled (???) when I enquired but was offered another instead (???) Owner seems very involved - office in the school. Could be good or bad. Owner owns one of the big compounds in Jeddah, so accommodation is assured. Are you prepared to come alone, as it is nigh on impossible for a woman to sponsor her husband...

You can live on it. Your girlfriend will have to find her own job, or you will need to marry, else she won't be able to get a visa. There are plenty of cheaper places to live, eat and travel is cheap.

Hi M. How are you? I read your last post with interest. It's funny how CVs grow organically with time. My CV stems from filing job applications for a top city bank during a summer holiday job in the early 1990s - not very glamorous. However, I think that many people fall into a trap of not changing or restructuring content when applying for a new job - one CV fits all syndrome! I ...
