MAKING RESEARCH TOPICS FUN?!...
Published (2009-12-01 20:26:00)
My approach has been to first tell them the 'story' which contains the pointers to the initial web page. They have to note down the facts they will use for the search. Having found the page, they have to answer questions, some of which require further searches, including a map search and picture searches. I've used a structured worksheet which requires the answering of specific questions rather than the need to read, copy and...

Computing is a minority interest, I'm afraid to say. Does it really merit a forum of its own? Have you tried the AQA Computing ning community? http://aqacomputing.ning.com/

Edexcel Applied GCE Unit 3

I wonder if it might give an indication of the % of nests typically damaged when moved. From previous papers I would have expected 3 possibilities from different sources, but given the DVR paper and examiner's report I would suspect they will focus more on the method & accuracy of the data collection.

If you want to do it, then do it. You'll need to contact the exam board's subject officer beforehand as you'll need to ensure you're properly set up to undertake the coursework and arrange for a centre (school/college) to mark it for you. Suppose (if you get a higher grade) it would look better on application forms (rather than an E). The best A Level Computing teacher I've worked ...

You have the problem that ICT is trivial and easy while Computing is a more maths based course and not mainstream. ICT attracts those who would stuggle to get a 'A' level in other subjects while Computing attracts those who would probably be better served getting additional maths.

Yes and it works well as an accelerated option for able students. There is plenty of time to get it done on a KS4 option block allocation IMHO.

I have been using this on my PGCE and whilst I have enjoyed the experience some parts need a little improvement. The feedback section is not ideal from my experience as you have to feedback to each child completing a test rarther than a group broadcast. I picked it up fairly easily with no training and the kids seem to enjoy using it.

m.aldous10: Hi everyone... This is my first post so I hope I'm doing it right. I'm a student doing a PGCE in ICT. Today I did an activity to compare and contrast different adverts. My mentor said the lesson went very well. The problem I had was that the children were utterly unengaged in the prospect of doing research. This seemed the best way to engage them in an activity, ...
