I was in in Central America this summer and I asked alot of people about 2012. None of the Maya I asked thought it was significant, most seemed to not even know what i was talking about. the only people who had heard of it were western hippy travellers.

I feel it to be a new beginning, a chance for us to have a second life in our life, how many people get to have that chance? what is it like every 640,000 years the planets align as they will in 2012, thats pretty nuts, that we will see that and experience it, I do not think anything bad is gonna happen, maybe nothing at all, maybe a shift in consiousness, who knows! like death we must wait and see!

The movie is actually kind of entertaining although it is too long. The director had too many cliffhangers and did not tell a great human story, but he did get a lot of the popular media subjects about 2012 and made it kind of scary. Great scary CGI special effects. The best scene in the movie is Woody Harelson standing on the rimof the Yellowstone super volcano.

an interesting thought experiment: (i think this is how its supposed to go) if one were to travel to a black hole, time would slow down relative to a point fixed further away than you are. the closer you were to this black hole, the duration between events would raise exponentially. once you reach the event horizon (if you are not torn to bits yet), time would stand completely still ...

what about keyloggers, trojans, and the like? afoaf has had some really strange problems w/ her pda, and it seems to be related to password harvesting. i know there are programs out there that claim to be able to delete/fix such things, but how would one determine which ones are reliable? the name Kaspersky keeps coming up in searches...
