Those were interesting numbers. The most interesting was the cars where sales were up in this market; Not surprisingly, Hyundai continues its winning ways with the largest increase in sales by volume at 45.91 percent. Newcomers to the I Know How To Sell Cars In A Down Market list include Nissan, up 19.94 percent, and Mercedes-Benz, up 19.11 percent. Subaru and Kia again perform flawlessly, posting gains of 23.95 and 18.27 percent,...

The speedo on my 4runner matches my GPS speed. When I had a Tacoma, it was 3mph slower than the GPS.

I have sold and delivered, literally thousands of new and used cars and I have yet to have anyone check their tires. Hey, if that makes you feel better, go for it! I have to admit, I NEVER check my tire pressures. I do look at them once in awhile but that's it. On our Hondas, I rarely check the oil levels and when I do, they are always full. I no longer speed or at least, I try not to. In my younger days...

God forbid that anyone would actually take responsibility for their own actions and safety ! The Audi deal was a big deal about nothing and so is this. IMO.

Well first of all the law says you can't go over the SL, it says nothing about allowing for speedometer error. Now for my example, its not a burb but a town in rural Northern Illinois. I can't remember the name but its on Route 20 between I-90 and I-90 (nope thats not a typo), But since you mentioned burb you reminded me of Stone Park a very small burn in the near western burbs that is a well known speed trap....

i don't think anyone is 'praying for a manufacturer to screw up'. what exactly happened is still to be determined. the step by step back pedal from one issue to another does not inspire confidence that the real issue is being addressed. i had someone at work stop by to tell me about the pedal issue with regards to the Prius. They have one and know my sister has one and wanted to make sure she knew about it. They were alerted to...

Yup so maybe even if you do get bailed out by the gov't you can still sell cars if you have some good cars. Chrysler was so screwed over by Merc and then Cerberus was so clueless they have nothing to sell. A couple of the Jeeps are still good but other then that they have no good cars that will sell in any volume.

i don't think anyone is 'praying for a manufacturer to screw up'. From what I read and hear, some people most certainly are. Back to sales from the frontlines - I also request that the dealers do not put any advertising on - decals, stickers, whatever. What I will do is if the dealer is good to me, then I will tell people about them - good word-of-mouth advertising is better than plastering a sticker on,...

All your posts are solicitations for warrantyelite. Solicitation is not allowed on Edmunds. As said before millions of time on this thread, all 3rd party aftermarket warr are crap, worthless and rip people off. They never pay any claims and can go BK anytime. The manuf warr is the best. And the original manuf warr can be bought online at any new car dealer or at your local dealer. Warrantygold was A+ rated by BBB. They went bust. A...

Richard, your convertible top research did not go unnoticed and was appreciated. Most certainly by those with future convertible top replacement concerns.
Thanks, Dave

you are correct, rather than "assume," it may be worth a phone call, or, heaven forbid, read your contract (.. ...) just to be absolutely sure that you ARE covered...I would hate for your vehicle to be stolen or totalled and find out the hard way you do NOT have GAP...

Assuming Geico can't "document" their values and because you can authoritate yours from KBB & Edmunds = show Geico YOUR figures and back them up with copies of the appraisals.
What is included in their "bunch of fees" they want to deduct?

yes, that is the route I plan to go on. I dont understand where this $3096 is coming from anyway. If I only have three payments left totalling $1800 why would I have this $3 figure involved. Very strange. Got a boad vibe from this whole deal and I told the dealer no thanks.

Your lawyer got you $7500 for an audio problem?
It sounds as though you should be going back to that lawyer now (and for the rest of your life).

All,
I'm right on the verge of buying a 2008 Honda CRV EX-L from a US dealer. He's more than happy to take my money, but the RIV has it listed as Inadmissable, even though it comes with an immobilizer. No idea if it's compliant with CMVSS 114, so I'd be curious to hear if anyone has successfully imported a 2008 vehicle that wasn't on the RIV list.
Thanks,

With that many miles, the car is probably only gonna bring $18-19k at the auction.

Stay away from those companies, they are Mechanical Breakdown only. That means that the part has to break completely to be covered, and trust me I was a manager for a claims department of a company that was the same and it makes a HUGE difference. Try warranty direct, not only do they cover wear and tear, they are the warranty company so you get real answers from the people that have to back it...

Wait until closer to the end of the lease, unless they're willing to give you some sort of deal on the current buy-out. I know Toyota doesn't budge on the numbers if you want to buy it out in advance....you basically owe the residual + payment X number of payments left. So buying out early makes no sense that I can come up with.

If the rebate was $4000 then all you would do is take their rebate and go to your credit union. This way the captive gets to keep you, and even though it is a 0% loan studies show that people who finance with a captive are 41% more likely to return to that make auto again when they trade, and 28% more likely to return to the selling dealer.
Those numbers were accurate last year.
