No, the reason you can find these inexpensive products is because of subsidy. These distortions, particularly in corn and soybeans , have allowed inordinately cheap feed; allowing widespread proliferation in every animal product market. walker984 wrote: Are you saying that the ratios...

Well, what is proposed is essentially a vice tax, like those levied on cigarettes and gambling. While it would be unethical to tax the fat directly, there is precedent for taxing the largely luxury and lard filled treats they consume. I'd favor a tax on anything whose suggested serving size is over 1000 calories. There's just no reason for that.

There is a difference between cigarettes and massively over eating. Cigarettes mostly effect just you and maybe some people around you but with most places banning them and forcing smokers to basically smoke around just smokers it does not really have much effect on anyone else. Eating in excess on the other hand is a global problem. Lets just say everyone right now switched to vegetarian only 3 billion people could eat. If people only ate...

There's no doubt there are gonna be people who quit because of tax hikes, I don't contend that. But they make a very, very minor dent. Sin taxes are retarded. I don't ever support sin taxes, no matter what for. I don't believe in legislating morality.

Execute them all. Edit: Saw this on the "Most Recent Posts" thing on the portal and automatically assumed it was in GD. I don't really have anything constructive to add so I'll just appologize now.

Actually, that's not a bad idea...I see some issues with it, like, it already tastes like shit, now you have to pay TONS for it? America would once again be skinny... Kinda fucked up thing to do, but not a bad solution.

Should the government spoon feed the poor? Some people need help... but many just leech of the system and do not attempt to get out of poverty. Should we let nature take it's course? I would love to see idiots die, we shouldn't be protecting these kinds of people...

If I were ever in prison, I would WANT to be in a room by myself. And also isn't solitary confinement a punishment for acting out? I've seen on prison shows where a man gets locked up for creating a mess on purpose flooding his cell etc. And they SHOULD be put in solitary confinement, what exactly is your alternative?

Immortality, or at least the escape velocity of technological progress in that area will be reached within 20 years IMO. And whether or not it is ethical is really a tough question that is probably almost impossible to answer, but the question is probably irrelevant because it will happen regardless of whether we want it to or not.

Well it comes down to what you think about adoption, I don't think abortion should be used as birth control, however when it comes to unwanted kids. Personally, I know people that have gone through adoption; and their life is miserable. Is it immoral to prevent an untrained life from misery by killing it? In my opinion no, because a life time of pain/problems from being an unwanted...
