I'd rather live in a studio apartment that didn't have to be staged and perfect for real estate showings all the time! An apartment might be smaller, but at least I could kick back and relax, and put MY stuff in it (most of which would give stagers a heart attack, I'm sure).

For the last six weeks of employment I'm sure that I was the highest-paid janitor in the county. They took me off cases six weeks beforehand since I wouldn't be available for court and my sole duties were to vacuum the office and empty the trash cans, duties normally rotated weekly among everyone else. We didn't have janitor service because of evidence-access issues. It still left a lot of time for long lunches and errands....

We have a small travel trailer rather than a Class B (which we considered but decided against). The inside of our trailer isn't much bigger than a roadtrek andwe travel with 2 adults, 2 small children and 2 small dogs. It is tight, but manageable if you are expecting tight quarters and act/pack accordingly. We have gone on trips as long as a week without issues, but our typical trip is mre ...

Well I have three more days of work left before I pull the plug. All I am doing at this point is cleaning out the office, so it is not exactly hard work. As a budget cutting move, I am not being replaced, so duties are being divided up among others. Will definitely be interesting to watch. Since I have a DB Pension with survivor's benefits and paid medical, we will be doing OK even after ...

Hi, Anyone have advise on where to buy a condo in the Carolina's? In about 10 yrs we want to retire to a more pleasent environment. We are in Mass now and it's 2 degrees out and snowing. We defintily want to be around water/parks etc.. No crouds or noise(no M. Beach). We are figuring now is a good time to start looking as the housing market is depressed. Thanks

Surfing other threads about people going out of state to visit family, or having to host out-of-town relatives, it occurs to me that I may be in a unique situation here. Both my wife (of soon to be 29 years) and myself have extended family in town. That includes parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. I have hosted huge XMAS, Thanksgiving, and New Year dinners for both family sides. None of ...

I've been FIRE'd for 16 months and I'd been in a long-term relationship (16+ years, living together for the past 5 years.) We were a joined-at-the-hip-type couple and loved spending our time with each other. My SO was still working, but my "not working" was never an issue. My SO recently broke up with me and I am having a difficult time being FIRE'd as a 'single' person. I've seen ...

Seattle is just south of 48 degrees N latitude. Yet we pretend that it never snows. I guess we don't have the usual Norhtern city investment in plows, sanders, etc. But of course it does snow, just not every year. Right now much of the city and region is shut down with moderate snowfall (heavier in some outlying areas, even at near sea level.) The freeways seem to have been reasoanably ...

After I RE I became a resident of Canada. This has caused complications in my taxes and investments and I am wondering if anyone can recommend an accountant that I could use for my US and Canada filings who is based in Ontario. I've talked to many accountants in Canada and have been very disappointed by their lack of knowledge of cross border issues. I've been quoted 1-2K to do my filings. I...
