It will increase the temps without the proper amount of Thermal paste... I would do some research on which compound works best for GPU's. But in a simple answer, yes I recommend you add some!

My 9600GT and my E5200 can play basically any game at 1280X1024, all settings on highest, at roughly 50-60FPS.

Right, I realise it isn't all about size. Sorry I wasn't specific. I know there are little fans that can pull a lot of power, and a lot of big fans that don't use much power at all. But bambihunter sounds like he has the power part under control. Just good to make you aware. Glad I could help.

It's a Geforce 8800GTS 320mb with an A2 core
Usually they have an OEM sticker over the Nvidia logo on the top of the cooler, and no tape of the back vents.

It looks like it's modded to be seen as a Quadro FX4600.
