Thing is, clockdrift is not predictable, and therefore having the info above available is always a good thing. I would set this up on any vm even without clockdrift just to be sure to avoid the issue. Though, I might set it hourly or 30 minutes or so, it's still another task being run even if it doesn't use much compute cycles.

Dunno what numbers you're basing your i7 PPD on... but no i7 pumps out 40k PPD on bigadv. The best you'd do would be 1 WU every 2 days (that's on a very heavy OC). Which would be about 30k PPD. That's assuming 29 minute frame times. Little optimistic numbers for the i7 there.

It sounds like you downloaded and installed the standard CPU client and not the high performance SMP client. http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download#ntoc5

The current list of howto's didn't include this one, I said it should but then again if there is nothing to link to it's not really fair to ask for it to be included.
While I haven't been actively folding for awhile I got the opportunity to write a simple step by step guide to set up a virtual machine and have it fold with Notfred's. Why should one use this ...

Widnows Vista or 7?
Which core is failing and what FahCore is it failing on?
I have never been able to get the first core on my GTX 295 dual PCB to fold anything other than 353-pointers. It fails on 787 and 1888 pointers.
You will need dongles for Win Vista or 7. They are quite easy to make if you use the DVI to VGA plugs that came with your card. If you have a dual PCB, you will use ...

Yeah that'd be a nice folding farm. With four single-slot GPUs... that'd pull ALOT of points.

There are a few different clients...
For multicore CPUs, the console client (running SMP) is generally preferred. GPU clients (for nv 8000 series plus (or ati equivalent roughly) often have graphical display available.
As for PPD, find out what unit you are currently working on, find it on this list , time how long it takes to do 1 percent and calculate how many points you are ...

Ouch!! My nVidia 9800GTX+ cards are spanking the HD 5970. I think you can improve those a bit by tinkering with some environment variables. Maybe even get 4500 PPD out of each core.
What are your temps when folding and how much CPU is each instance using?
